A couple of posts that I have read have mention Bingo. Is there really Bingo aboard the ship? I understand that there is not a casino, correct? Where can I go to find out information about Bingo on the 7 day Eastern cruise?
Thanks to all who answer!

OH YES....THERE IS BINGO.....

No casinos...BUT BINGO......

In the 6 cruises we have been on...I've probably played 50-60 games of Bingo and NEVER WON A RED CENT...or even a door prize...lol

It's lots of fun though and that's why I play.

They play once or twice a day for the whole cruise. Saturday-Thursday. It's $20.00 for a pack of 5 cards, with 3 games on each card, 3 green, yellow, orange, blue and red..red being the jackpot card. You can also purchase a Jumbo pack. It's 6 games on each card, same color and you can buy an extra jackpot card and it's all $50.00. They are now giving door or raffle prizes also. It just makes it a little more fun.

The kids that do the calling and helping out are usually a lot of fun and you get to know them well.

GO enjoy and I can't believe I have to wait a year before I can play again......................

Go... My husband and I had a blast playing Bingo!! We had never went before..and had so much fun. You will see in the Navigator when and where each day it is. It is usually in one lounge, and then the last one is in the theater. In the beginning not too many go..but you can still make$$ It is 35.00 to play..but that plays the entire time. Children can play, but cannot buy the card. Each card has 6 games on it ( I think...) They also have different level cards to buy..or just jack pot cards..but the 35.00 one is the best bet. My advice.. take your honey... and have fun!!

BINGO is in the Walt Disney Theatre at specified times during the cruise.

You buy a computer printed BINGO "card" in various denominations for a given number of games. The more you buy, the better your chances as you have more cards for any given game. I know they sell $20 card sets because that what we get (I think it was either 4 or 6 cards per game). There were more and less expensive denominations (more / less cards for a given game).

Basically you try to match the pattern (a row, a column, diagonal, whole card, checherboard, etc.) that is announced before the game using your card(s) and the numbers called. Get the pattern first (BINGO) and you're the winner.

The money Disney collects from card sales goes toward each game winnings, and a portion toward the jackpot. Disney does not make it puplic what the sales were for any game, but announces what the next game and jackpot is (The do get asked!).

I suspect Disney makes out pretty good on BINGO, given only if everyone bought the minimum denomination; and counting the heads in the theater - the prize money is significantly less that the winnings.

The jackpot on our last cruise built, until it was just over $9000 and won on the last day.

They'd have to have a gambling license to make a profit off of it. Even here where I live it has to be licensed and profits going to charities (after paying the employees first ofcourse). I don't really care if they make a profit off of it though. Boy wouldn't you just DIE if you won a big jackpot like that?

I was meaning to ask... the $20- is that like 3 cards for 5 games? So you get to play 5 different games for $20- right?
I mean it's not $20 per game, right? (got a little confused with the descriptions above)

Yes, the $20 pack is 5 sheets with 3 game cards on each. You use a different sheet for each game (they are color coded) so you play three cards in each of the 5 games.

The 6-card Jumbo pack is $35 and if you want the extra card for the last game the price increases to $50.

Gambling license? If in international waters, is there such a thing? Maybe a requirement when in some ports of call??? All cruiseports in Florida have "ships to nowhere" that sail out past the x-mile limit (into non-jurisdictional waters) to allow gambling.

There may alse be a licensing exception for BINGO, Lawyers speak up???

And they do make a profit from BINGO. Like I said, count the number of playersin the room, and just multiply by the lowest denomination to play and see if that comes anywhere near the prize money awarded!

Ooh- don't get me lying! I'm sorry, I had intended that to be in question form... like wouldn't they have to get a gambling license? I stated it as if it was fact, and I don't know it to be fact- especially in international waters! Sorry about that.

Maybe they account for some of the 'profit' to pay for the upkeep of the area, the staff, etc. Just like they are accounting for half the palo fee for stuff OTHER than for the staff? I dunno...

New question: do you guys/gals tip if you win? It's a common practice here- wasn't sure if it was common practice on DCL or other ships that have bingo though. Just curious.. not like I think I'd win. LOL

Can you tell I plan on playing bingo on the ship? LOL

POKE....and FOLD

I played a few times this past 4-day and won once....first game at $48. We played December 2001 on a 7-day and I spent around $100 and lost it all. It's fun. Gets kind of annoying after a while because it's the same silliness game after game (a lot of repetition of corny catch phrases :yo-yo: that make me want to shove a fork in my ear). ;)

Casino's in international waters don't need to have a gambling license. I used to work at a Casino in Iowa, and I had a chance to move to Florida to work on one of the ships that only go out for gambling. Day Cruise... While asking about the position, I asked about getting a Florida License and the Captain/Hiring Manager said that Florida does not offer license, that's how come thye have to wait to be in international waters to actually start gambling..

I'm sure this was too much information.

I think that sounds fun. I'm sure that is something me and my mom will be doing.. COuld you image winning the jackpot?? I would be rebooking then.

No one mentioned the best part of winning.....you get paid in CASH!!!

I highly reccommend the BINGO.

Along with the video game room, it easily ended up being our biggest expense and we'd do it again in a heartbeat.

In addition to all the games played, in addition to all the corny jokes (funny - they always told us to "poke and fold" the BINGO tabs, but some people still didn't), they had raffles held between games with items donated from the stores one would visit on the following port visited.

For instance, if you were on your way to Grand Cayman, they'd have raffle drawings for items from stores in Grand Cayman.

We didn't win any BINGO, but we won three raffles.
