Someone stole my lunch !

Sorry that happened to you, I know how frustrating it is when you are counting points and that happens. Last year I had put my lunch in the staff room fridge as usual, I too was on weight watchers and everything was pointed out for the day. I had a packet of weightwatchers cheese and biscuits. It was pre packed with the cheese and 4 biscuits in the same piece of packaging. When I came to get my lunch someone had opened it, ate the piece of cheese and left the biscuits! Seriously who does that?

I also work in a hospital and don't have an office. Not possible to have
my own personal refrigerator.

If that happened to me I would make two lunches. One I kept in my office in a special container to keep it cold and one I put in a brown bag in the company frig. The one in the frig would have tobasco sauce and every other thing I could think of that would be hot. I would bake it into a cookie, add it to a sandwich, sprinkle it on chips, whatever. :thumbsup2

You would think adults would not take things that don't belong to them. If you don't want to sabotage the food, tape a note to every item in your bag that states the food belongs to you and you have steps in place to make sure your food is not stolen again. (or something else that would make them think twice about eating your food) :rotfl:

Our principal said we couldn't all have dorm fridges because they use too much power. :(

If everyone in our office had dorm-sized refrigerators, eventually management would tell us all to take them home because of the extra electricity they consumed.

My ds20 has a fridge in his room that only holds a six pack of drinks .
It would be just big enough for a sandwich and a cpl of drinks or leftovers. Not sure where he got it, but it works just fine.
Here it is..

OP: Get thee self to Target and buy an insulated bag. It'll be worth the $10 of sanity.

I did that for years, especially when i was dropping weight. I just packed everything in with one ice-pack and a cold can of soda to keep the rest cold. I just didn't trust the communal fridge to have my food still there. Plus I knew what I had and it would still be cold when I went to eat.

:thumbsup2 That last one is so neat! For $40, I would definitely invest in one!

I'm not laughing at you OP. It sucks really. I know at my work people lift my waters, and pop out of the fridge all the time.

But I just keep thinking of the Friends episode when Ross' turkey sandwich gets stolen by his boss:lmao:

People use to steal beverage from me at one of my previous workplaces all the time too. Eventually I bought a little insulated cooler bad for my beverages.

It's called the Lunch Redistribution Program. Run by the government.

1st grade teacher chiming in here :teacher:

I've seen these threads several times, & I've often wondered..."How come everyone doesn't buy one of their own dorm-sized refrigerators?":thumbsup2

I can't stand the community fridge thing :crazy2:so I've had one in my classroom for over 15 years. They're cheap (like $69.00) and really don't take up any room at all...Heck, mine is under my desk, where my feet are:rotfl:

we can't have anything like that in our cubicles. No personal fans, heaters or appliances that run on electricity.

At our school no one is allowed to have their own refrigerators (or fans ,heaters, etc) because of the energy they use. The county is trying to save any money they can and energy consumption is a big one.

This was all I could think of too,the sandwich with the extra piece of bread soaked in gravy :rotfl:

It happens everywhere... the other day I went into the kitchen to eat my Special K bar (the chocolate kind :goodvibes) and it was gone! I looked around to see if mabye it had gotten picked up and moved and happened to look in the trash.. there it was, but only half. Whoever ate it must not have liked it too much because they only ate half and tossed the rest!! And I'm in a small office less than 15 folks!! I was ticked off !!!

It is happening here too. At first it was kind of humorous, but it has persisted. We have had several warning emails and now we just got one last week that if the person is caught, they will be fired. They are trying to rule out that it is a vendor taking the lunches (fill the soda and snack machines). I keep my lunch at my desk so I don't have to worry.

We had a woman at our school who got her lunch stolen twice (and she was pregnant). Who would do such a thing? I just don't get it. We're all responsible adults (teachers, paras, administration) at our school - I was just shocked that someone would do that. After the first time, she sent an email saying someone might have accidently taken it (yeah, right), but please be careful next time, etc. Well, after that, they did it again!

This reminded me that when I was in college, someone stole my box of Tide. When I complained to my mother about it, she bought me a new box and wrote in big black letters: Thou shall not steal! on it. No one took that box.

Said to the office gossip/newsperson -

"Oh, you know what? I looked at my box of Special K bars when I got home and had to throw them all out...some little bugs had gotten in them. It was the wierdest thing..."

*or*

"Y'know what? I used to like those Special K bars? I didn't realize, but the last ones I got were waaaaaay expired."

*or*

"I think there must be something wrong with those Special K bars I got. I had the runs something awful the last one I ate."

*or*

Get an insulated lunch-bag like some folks have suggested and keep all food-stuffs at your work-station, in your desk, etc. Maybe put a sign in the kitchen/lunch-room (especially perhaps where you had your lunch the day your Special K bar was eaten?) that says something like TO THE THIEF - THANKS FOR STEALING MY LUNCH.

agnes!

We keep a Sharpie at the fridge and everyone is to mark with name and date, anything that they put in the fridge. Seems to work pretty well.

This thread is bringing back memories of junior high. My sister's best friend's lunch kept disappearing from her locker. She ended up putting a really bad tasting sandwich and other strange items in her next lunch, that of course disappeared. The lunch never went missing again after that.
