Someone Please Help...

Don't leave us hanging! I've become emotionally invested in this story! When I saw this thread I was waiting for Kelly to take a crack at helping you out. I've used a couple of the programs she's recommended with great success. Any chance of seeing the final pic? I've tried to clean up some of the pictures of my grandfather for my mother and have even done somthing similar. At a birthday party someone had a 40 year old 8 x 10 propped up and I took a picture of it and later cleaned it up at home.

I'm going to upload it, but the Genuine Fractals enhancement won't be seen here (due to resizing through Photobucket.)

The picture will look best if it is printed/viewed on screen at the size no larger than the original Polaroid.

I normally find things by dreaming about them. I know, it seems weird.

Not weird at all. Just using a different part of your brain.

It is very nice to see everyone pitching in to help with the picture. I do hope you find the original. I was very close to my grandmother and don't know what I would do if I lost the pictures of her.

Trust me, it's hard.

I think the worse part is because everytime I look at it, I remember him asking me to read the poem (reply #12) to the family that Christmas day with everyone there, asking for the copy I gave him to be buried with him and then asking if I would read it at his funeral. It made me kinda proud knowing that he loved it so much...oh geez, here I go crying again.

Anyway, it's a photo that has all these last memories of him.

Thanks again to everyone who helped. Kelly did a WONDERFUL job. When viewed at the size that I wanted (like 3.5 x 5) it is so perfect. My DH was glad that I was happy - and stopped tearing the house apart when I just cleaned!

Take that picture that Kelly did and save it to a Cd and/or DVD. Actually make 2 copies on seperate Cd's or DVD's, then with other pictures you have (make copies of them as well) take them to a bank and get a safety deposit box. Once every few years make fresh copies on new Cd's and/or DVD's and replace the one's in the safety deposit box. CD's and DVD's wont last forever and will break down over time. But at least you will know that you will always have a safe copy away from home.
