We are going to EPCOT in the morning just to ride Soarin' :sunny: . We want to leave there as quickly as possible to head to MGM and ride ToT and RnRC. Would you:

1. take the bus from EPCOT to MGM
2. take the boat from EPCOT to MGM
3. walk from EPCOT to MGM

We don't mind walking (two twenty-somethings), but only if you think it's the faster route. We're talking about maybe 10 AM in mid-May.

All advise greatly appreciated! :goodvibes

I would take the bus first, the boat second, and last resort - walk. It's a long way to MGM by foot.

We always walk, easier for us and really doesn't take that long. From Soarin to mgm you would need to walk back to the front of the park to take the bus or even walk to one of the epcot resorts and take the bus from there. To take a boat you would still have to get to one of the epcot resorts. To walk go to the international gateway and head towards the Boardwalk resort and from there to the walkway to mgm. We do a ton of walking everyday anyways and so to walk doesn't bother us.

walk...and if the boat is at the yacht club or swan and going to mgm, catch it...otherwise by the time it stops at the bw, goes to yc, and then swan, then mgm, you can beat it.

The only way this would work is if you get to Epcot right at park opening. Soarin' continues to be very popular and the lines build fast. If you don't get to the park until 10am the FP return time could be many hours later. If it's hot you will not want to walk all the way through Epcot to exit at the International Gateway. The bus from the main entrance is likely better in the heat. I would guess that the walk from Soarin' to the Studios is at least 30-35 minutes. The Friendship boat from the International Gateway takes almost the same amount of time, but it is a relaxing ride.
If you get a FP and the return time is several hours away I would head over to the Studios and then back to Epcot later. The wait times at the Studios will be long, but likely not as long as for Soarin'.
If at all possible I urge you to get to either park first thing in the morning. If you get to any Disney theme park early you can get a lot done in the first couple of hours.

Hi!

Let me clarify. I meant that we would be at EPCOT at park opening and proceed immediately (without running, of course :rotfl: ) to Soarin'. I'm assuming (worst case scenario), that we'd be able to leave EPCOT by 10:00 AM.

That's why we were looking for the FASTEST route to MGM in an effort to avoid crowds there. If we're going mid-May, are the crowds really bad? We were there during Jersey Week and FP's for the popular rides were gone by 11 AM in most of the parks on most days. It was CRAZY! Hope it's not like that mid-May.

Thanks for the help! Anyone else? :sunny:

I would walk. Leave Soarin', head to the Intl. Gateway. When you get to the hill and the bridge, take a left towards BW. When you get to the BW village green (where the surry bike rental is) go left, towards Muscles and Bustles Health Club. You will take a right, go under a tunnel like area which will lead you to the pool area. Go through this area, staying to the left, you will now be on the walkway to MGM, along the canal. It's about a 12-15 minute walk from this point.
You can just walk along the boardwalk area until you get to Jellyrolls, then turn left and walk along the canal that way, but it takes longer than cutting through the pool area.
Since you are on the young side, I would think you should be able to make it to MGM from the Intl Gateway in about 20 minutes. The boat is much slower.
