He obviously sought attention for his grand scheme and sadly, though you had good intentions, youve now also given him the attention he sought. Not only that, but youve exposed thousands more to a way to beat the system and some will try it.

Sometimes its just better to deal with the person directly rather than trying to gain support for yourself via means of sharing it.

Karma will arrive, since the child has now learned that it is OK to lie, cheat, etc. Wonder how the parent will feel when the child cheats or lies about something and it blows up in the family's face?

I am a moderator on a local Forum, and it is pretty liberal with what is allowed. Of the three of us, I am the most conservative and cringe at some of what gets posted. What I found works the best to shut down a thread is to ignore it. Folks who post how they circumvent rules or push envelopes and buttons just want responses and they cannot talk to themselves for too long.

For this guy, I would have scrolled right past and let the cheerleaders pat him on the back. The thread would die off soon enough with no naysayers to amp it up.

My DD was just over the height limit when she finally got to ride and I was in the seat behind her and I spent the entire ride leaning forward to try to hold on to her. I was scared to death. Like OP's said, there is a reason for the height requirement and IMO that was extremely irresponsible.

Oh my! I just did that in August. Our 7 YO fearless Princess was tall enough to ride EE and was sitting in teh car with my DD. I was a few behind and finally my DSIL told me to stop yelling for DD to "HOLD HER TIGHT!!!" I was banned from the next spin in EE.

They're not teaching honesty to their kid that's for sure! My oldest can now ride most rides at WDW (except for RnR and Primeveral whirl) but at our local Six Flags, the number of rides she can do are very limited even if more tame imo than some at WDW like EE or SM. Therefore, I always thought that the height requirements at WDW were really not that high!

This will be me the first time my daughter is tall enough for Space. I'm dreading it. She's tall but super skinny and I have crazy fears about her falling out. We are leaving in two weeks and luckily she's only 41" so no Space this trip!

I love WDW rides as much as the next guy but what ride would be worth making your kid stuff two packets of tissue in their shoes . Sounds like more of a hassle than it's worth.

I think it is as well, but it is after the fact with nothing anyone can now do to correct it. As much as I would be horrified it is not the worst example of poor parenting at WDW and I would have refused to give that guy one second of reaction from me.

Several years ago we planned a family trip and were so excited. We boarded DME for that final leg to meet my DS and DDIL at the poly, and my dH had our dgd snuggled up close to him while they chatted with DD and DSIL about what was ahead of us. A young family boarded with a little baby and a little girl. No seats for 4 so mom dad and baby in one row and little one left to fund a spot. Alone. Several of us tried to rearrange our seats so one of the adults could sit with the child who was all of 4 years old, no thank you. Okay, the man behind them offered to move do she was not several rows behind with me. Also refused. My heart still aches for that child. She was scared, holding a little doll that she said was to keep her from being afraid. I snuggled her up and started showing her the signs and talking about the movie, but I tell you, we all spent the next ten days looking for her. It really dampened our trip because there was no hiding that he most magical place on earth is not so magical for everyone

Really not defending what they did because I think it sets a horrible example for their kids but my DD was absolutely devastated when her friend who is the same age was tall enough to drive a go cart and she was not. Before going to the track he had said that if DD couldn't drive her own cart he wouldn't either. Of course, once we got there he changed his mind. As it turned out, she rode with me and ended up having much more fun because we could go fast with me driving. He was terrified and drove at a snail's pace the entire time. I don't think he had any fun at all.

I can imagine the kid in this story being the same. Was it even that important to him or was it important to the parents for him to ride that roller coaster?

My girl is 5. She's going to give me conniptions because she's tall enough and brave enough to ride pretty much EVERYTHING. I believe Primeval Whirl and RNR are the only things she's too short for. (Although I'm waffling a little about Dinosaur. It seems pretty intense.)

Nola was still 6, and braver than me! LOL! We ended up skipping Dinosaur because the heat was too much for her, but I bet she would have been fine. She held my DD hand on ToT@ LOL! And Marisa is 38!

Cupcake is daring but has some sensory issues. I worry about Dinosaur pushing those limits. I have 1 AK day before our visit to T-Rex and 1 after. I may make Dinosaur FP for both days and then depending on how she does on other things, decide if we want to try it before T-Rex or wait to see her reaction to the dinos. If she can handle EE AND the dinos at T-Rex, I figure that's a good sign.

In ten years i have never made it to Dinosaur. Every time we are in AK and head to it, it has been down. I definitely would ask but if in doubt, use the ear protection. I think Nola wold have been okay, but my Kady also had sensory issues when it came to noises. She could handle fireworks and never blinked, but some sounds like leaf blowers or loud vacuum cleaners were really hard on her, so we avoided them. No way could I have taken her on Dinosaur, adn this year is the first time she went on EE and she just turned 14.

To me that is the biggest issue, that as a parent you demonstrate that rules are there to be ignored, bent or cheated. The 1/2 inch isn't going to impact safety, If it did, Disney would have a much higher requirement.
