So I see that the Entertainment Rate has been updated this week for HOJOs and shows the dates of our trip available. I am still hesitating for some reason. We have APs so we arent opposed to driving in (yes we know what a hassle parking can be).

I think I am being ridiculous... There aren't any deals that are going to be better than the 59.00 rate to be worth dealing with the parking are there???

I assume you're "typing" about HoJo's ~ you certainly don't need to drive to DLR from there. Leave you car in the HoJo's lot (*free parking) and walk to the park! We love it there.

Yeah I am talking about Hojo's sorry. I know we wouldnt need to drive from there.

I guess my question is whether or not it would even be possible to get a better deal than the 59.99 ent rate further away that would require driving in and parking at DLR (especially considering the hassle that would come with having to park onsite)??

I think I am going to call Hojo's in a few minutes and if they dont have any rooms left book at the Anaheim Plaza (I just dont think we can find another deal even several miles out that would be so good to justify driving in and parking each day)...

I'm a little confused. I assume you mean the Entertainment rate at Howard Johnson. We've stayed there the last three trips and have no problem with the walk, even with 3 kids.

* Sorry I was typing too slow and others had the same response.

You might find something marginally cheaper (maybe $10 a night?) but you'd have to pay $14 per day for driving in and parking at DL. Plus, HoJo's has SOOOOOO many great recommendations here on the boards that I don't think you'd regret it!

Go with HoJo's or AP ~ don't bother looking for a better deal, they won't be as nice (as HoJo's certainly) and it's so much better being able to walk to the parks.

Its done!!! HOJOs was out of the Standard w/ 2 Queens, but did have the Standard w/ 2 Doubles available still at the 59.00 entertainment rate so I took that! =

FWIW Anaheim Plaza had their Patio/Balcony Rooms w/ 2 queens for 59.00 for Fri/Sat and 49.00 for Sun night, but I think parking is 4.00 a night so the total would have been 2 dollars more... (We stayed there in Oct and would be happy to stay there again for their price...)

Disneymomma81: Thanks for all of your advice and help! Its nice to have someone near home that can give an opinion or advice :)
I also though I would never have a signature with so many trips, but we are starting to catch up to your pace afterall, LOL

What was going to be 2 trips within a year to get our money's worth has already turned into 3 completed trips, this trip that I just booked and 2 more in the woodwork before our passes expire... I guess we have definitely caught the DL bug...

The only thing that would make it easier and more convenient is if we could afford to fly, hahaha

We were AP holders for a long time and would sometimes stay with family a little farther out and drive in (since our AP included free parking). I hated it. The tram is the single most annoying thing there. Hate it, hate it, hate it!! I would much rather stay close and walk to my room without dealing with the stupid tram lines and listening to 'please move behind the yellow line" repeated over and over and over to those who don't know the difference between a white line and a yellow one. Ugh! Makes me want to scream just thinking about it...

Yeah, we stayed with family about 25-30 minutes away during our Thanksgiving Trip.

It was nice to save the money, but its was rough dealing with the tram after a long day with our two exhausted boys (5 and 2) and then once that was over we had to deal with the drive back to our family's place (which was just long enough for the kids to calm down and fall asleep) and then wake the boys up to go in the house and deal with them being cranky all over again, LOL

Weeeee! The Disney Snowball Effect (DSE) has struck again.

Glad you booked at the Hojo! If you get tempted to drive in, just remember that if you end up being parked in a far away spot, your total walk time will be *longer* than if you walked from HoJo. The walk from the parking spot, the wait for the elevators (since I assume you'll have a stroller and won't take that on the escalator), the walk to the tram stop, the walk from the DTD tram stop...longer, depending on where your car was parked, than just hojo. Oh and don't forget finding a close-by parking space to your room. Depending on where you are in the hotel, you might have a trudge from the car, too!

In case you haven't seen the directions for the walk...

Leave hojo parking lot. Cross Manchester at the light. Ignore all the people continuing down Harbor on the hotel side. Cross Harbor right there where you ended up after crossing Manchester. Turn left, walk down the sidewalk. You're on the Disneyland side, and you might very well hear the music from there (how immersed in Disney is THAT?). Notice some bus stop benches/shelters, and to the right look for the taxis lined up. When you see a walkway that goes through the taxi area, turn right and go along that way. Park of that small walk will be on that yellow, textured street covering (if you don't understand now, you will when you see it). Walk up the "aisle" where people wait for shuttles etc. YOu'll see the people who walked on the hotel side paralleling you, but they are on a seething crowd while you are basically alone and free to walk faster. Enter the bag check area.

When going back, reverse it!

Good choice ~ Yay for APs!! I need to give driving a try, I bet we'd go more! I did drive to Seattle so I know I could drive to S. CA... the kids do have a 3 day break at the end of Feb..... but can you believe it - DS is bored with DLR :scared1: That's why he's not invited for DD's B~day trip in July! We spent 2 nights in a "oversized" double at HoJo's last July ~ it was fine, they're only 3 inches less wide than a Q, but I sleep on a twin @ home so even that seemed big!
