I took my time and arrived around noon-ish.
Meandered around, as usual. Stopped in at Expo Hall and bought a few pins.
Roamed ;) over to the AAA desk area. The CM who usually sits there wasn't there. It was a gal instead.
I perused the book.
Saw a few things that puzzled me.
Several Starline pendants. The obvious Starline look. (Don't get me wrong. I have Starline PINS in my keepers.) These were obviously pendants. They had a little loop at the top as a necklace would. I wondered if they attached the prong themselves, but the pendants must have come that way.
What really got me was some came in obvious pairs -- and of course only half was in the book. (Like a broken heart -- and only one side of the heart was there.)
The CM told me that yes -- a family came in and traded around 8 pins from the book. She knew they were only suppose to trade two, but... (I got the impression she was just overwhlemed by so many trading fast and furious all at one time.)
In Adventureland -- a pin that was not even Disney on the lanyard. hmmm Wonder if...... Not even a Disney character, marked Disney or having anything to do with Disney. (The CM said she traded since it came from a little girl.)
On the way out just now, I stopped and chatted with another CM. Guess what she had on too.
Without mentioning what I saw at Expo, she said a family rather busily traded with her too. She even refused one of their pins. (No Disney backstamp.)
She said they had a bag full of traders. They just plopped that one back in and gave her a different one. (My guess is that is where the Adventureland pin came from.)

Hmmm. I wonder if it was the same family that I ran into 2 years ago or so. They had a ton of pins, but almost all were foreign. They also had lot of wooden pins. Some were nice looking but you had no idea the value. The kids are all over your lanyard and trade book. Very pushy. Of course they wanted all your lower edition pins. The first time I ran into them I kept my trade book in my purse but I was unable to successfully communicate my concerns to my mom. I forget what pin she finally caved in to trade but once she looked at the pin she got she decided it was actually a piece off of a toy!! A few weeks later she ran into them at MGM. Suzanne B might have run into them too. How about it Suzanne? I think they create the confusion on purpose.

On a side note, my mom worked Town Square yesterday. She left a voice mail around 4pm saying it was a very very sad and gloomy day in the MK.

It seemed sad at Mk to me too. But partly due to areas I was in. I was at Frontierland. Even rode the train through that area (around the park). I couldn't help but think about the other day. :(

Today is overcast. But not bad temp. Still 66 degrees even now. :) Just looks like it will rain, but isn't.

I was in MK today too.

I could really tell the week end was coming up. I think the attendance tripled today! So many people everywhere!

I was sad today too. I really got sad when I saw Pluto :(.

Off to pin trading at the Contemporary!

Barb,

Thanks for posting the link to the Dizpins thread, which included the picture of some of these nefarious fake pins.

Maybe we need a new thread: How low can you go? pirate:

I can't even imagine what message these people are teaching their children. :earseek:

with the "wooden pin" family a while ago...
I think it was them whom I saw last year also...they had some BETTER pins that time...I actually made a couple of trades..but it's still go to proceed with caution!
