Someone Explain the Waitlist - Please????

I know that this has been asked hundreds of times, but I can't find the answer. For some reason I can not wrap my head around how it works.

My reservation:

Sept 25 -29 OKW studio 56 pts

Don't get me wrong, I love OKW and I a perfectly happy staying there, but we just did an add-on at AKV and I kinda want to spend my first AKV pts at AKV

We did a 60 pt add-on because I had borrowed ALL of my 2009 pts. So we only have the 60 2008 points to work with, and I guess 60 2009 pts to borrow.

So how, if at all, do I go about getting on the waitlist at AKV?

You can call Member Services at +1 (800) 800 9800 to go on the waitlist - and good luck. Until Kidani Village is completed (which will be in early 2009), this may be difficult. The waitlist for the converted DVC rooms in Jamba House is hard to get through. The DVC Guides recommend waiting until late 2009 to start booking at AKV - and even the promo video for AKV has a disclaimer about the demand for Jamba House.

Call MS and ask to make a reservation at AKV for your dates and particular room size and category. (You might get lucky, availability changes all the time).

If MS says there is no availability, ask to waitlist. Unless you are willing to risk moving back and forth between OKW & AKV, say you want to waitlist for the entire trip to become available. If it does, then MS will cancel the OKW reservation for you and use the points to reserve AKV. If you need more points than you get back from the OKW reservation to make the AKV reservation, MS can use some of the add on points.
