Yesterday, I replied on a thread that I had stolen my aunt's LGMHPC from her set of other MHPCs

Well, I've committed yet another crime...

At lunchtime, I went to Wal-Mart and as I was heading to the checkout, I passed a display of Wal-Mart shopping cards. I picked up a Disney Princesses, Winnie the Pooh & Piglet, and Cars gift card for scrapbooking. I even got one with fireworks on it... I figured I could use it for a Wishes or Illuminations scrapbook page.

I felt horrible and even considered putting a dollar on each card then using the cards to pay for my items. Instead I just went to the self checkout and wrapped my pilfered giftcards up in my receipt. I just knew everyone was looking at me and knew what I had done. I was waiting for the bag check lady to pull me to the side. :worried: But alas, I made it to the car undetected and sped away :moped:

I get the feeling if I was admitting to this on television, I would be behind a screen or silhouetted. I feel like such a heel :guilty: but I got my Disney giftcards :teeth:

That's actually a good idea to use those! But I don't understand how you could be "stealing" them... Obviously you can pay for just a card with no credit on it....I might ask someone in Walmart next time I go what the procedure is for that.....but in the meantime, don't worry....I won't tell on you! :thumbsup2

boy- i would have to say it would be stealing.

the heads are for anyone to TAKE for free......but the cards?! :confused3 they are for purchase. i bet if you did ask one of the workers there- they would say no, you cant TAKE them.

thats just my little vote.

so that 1 for not stealing

and 1 for stealing. not bad 50/50 :rotfl2:

I'd have to call it stealing as well. The cards were meant to be used as part of a purchase. That you felt bad, and a little guilty, was a dead give-away.

I think putting a buck or 2 on them, would make you feel a lot better about taking them...then you've used them as they were intended. It's a small point, but it costs them something to make them. To me, it seems like taking envelopes without purchasing the greeting card. They don't charge you for the envelopes, but they're meant to go with a purchase.

Yeah, that's what's called STEALING...it was wrong, you knew it was wrong at the time you did it, your little Jiminey Cricket was on your shoulder telling you it was wrong.

Next time listen to Jiminey!! If you needed those pics you can always download them off the internet for free.

schlepsnort GETS RIGHT TO THE POINT-- DONT YOU!? :rotfl:

Okay. I've been duly chastised and I hang my head in shame.

I will put money on the gift cards and give them to my god children on their birthday.

Now, I can stop dodging stones. :duck:

are you going to walk back into the store with the stolen goods to put $$ onto them? :lmao:

I cant cast stones becauses I am "with sin" a-plenty! Glad your going back but they may indeed be free because I have a manager friend at Walmart that brought me a tinker bell (empty) gift card and I thought he said they were free!?
Just check so you can rest easy!

Hey UtahMama, I knew I could count on you to be a sinner too.

I really didn't think I was doing anything wrong, I actually thought I was over-reacting and being silly when I left the store incognito. I even hummed the tune from Mission: Impossible :rolleyes1 Hey, I even stopped at another Wal-Mart and picked up a tinkerbelle one (probably the one you got, UtahMama)

Yes, I do plan on bringing those same gift cards to Wal-Mart and putting money on them. I'm returning to the scene of the crime.

I'm glad you're going back and putting money on them. I've thought some of the gift cards were cool, but never would have just outright taken them. If you were going to use them for scrapbooking though, why give them to your godkids? Just put a few dollars on them and use them on your next trip to Walmart and then you can save them.

I was thinking the same thing. This is a good idea.

:lmao: incognito?-- did you have on a rubber nose and glasses!? :rotfl2:

:faint:

Just kidding. Why not just find out if they cost anything & just offer to pay rather than even putting money on them. If anything I'm sure they cost under a $1.

Hey Maddhatir--- I  your new picture!!!! Your pictures of JD just keep getting better & better! This might be the best one yet! :lovestruc

If she's a regular Walmart shopper though, what's it going to hurt to put money on them and use them later? It's not like they charge you to put money on the gift cards, so she won't be spending any more than she wants to. I used to buy the gift cards to buy the gas at Walmart because it would take 3¢ off the gallon.

Thanks! I aim to please-- actually I do it for purely selfish reasons-- i just need to STARE at him constantly-- so! since I am posting on the boards all day-- I get to see him....all....the...time! ooooooooo :faint:

but i will share! :goodvibes

My DD5 collects those cards. We have asked the sales clerks and been told at both Target and WalMart that it's okay to take them - that we don't have to pay for them. The only store that was iffy about it was Publix, where they said she could get the cards that had already been used from the customer service desk.

I meant "secretly" same thing, but thanks for the laugh and the visual :lmao:

For all who care (I doubt it's very many) but I did go to Wal-Mart to put money on the cards. I was giving them to my goddaughters instead of just using them for myself because I felt bad about keeping them :guilty: . However, I asked the cashier if it's okay to take the cards without putting money on them and she said it was.

I still put money on the cards I had for my goddaughters, but I got another set for me.

Disclaimer: Now that I think about it, this could be another case like Zzub had with the cast member telling him about the DMVC and maybe I should have asked a manager, but I didn't, so I suggest that you... Don't try this at home pirate:

It's okay, sneezie. I guess it's all in the intent. Most of us were taught at an early age not to take things without asking, and the guilt kicked in when you went against that. Now that you've asked, and were given permission, don't you feel better? Sorry if I came off sounding judgemental in my earlier post. Always better to ask, I guess.
