Someone broke my headlight yesterday b/c they were too lazy to put up their basket.

I'm not thrilled - I went into Best Buy for less than 5 minutes to grab something for work - came back out and there was a basket smashed against the front of my car. Pulled it away and sure enough, shattered plastic all over the ground. It was super windy and I'm sure someone just left it in the lot and it traveled over to my car...

Lovely.

I wish I could return the favor to that person who didn't feel the extra 20 steps across the lot was worth it. Hopefully they will have the favor returned at somepoint in the future :teeth:

We hope that we can just buy the part direct from Volvo and replace it ourselves this weekend without too much $$$. Sure wasn't an expense I was ready to spend!

And DH always wonders why I am set on returning that cart each time... it's called respect!!

Rant over.

Wait....you didn't read the other thread. You asked for it because you had the nerve to not park your car in an area of the parking lot where it wouldn't be hit. It's your responsibility to park at the other end of the Earth and walk so that other people don't have to walk and put their carts back.

Oh...and you must be mistaken because wayward shopping carts don't do that much damage.

(That was a joke....if you haven't read the other thread, check it out. I'm sorry this happened to your car.)

Yep, just because somebody finds a place in the parking lot where the cart can be put and not roll doesn't mean it will not roll later when the wind catches it.

I wish they could make it illegal to leave leave a cart anywhere but at the front of the store or in the corals.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hit your car. But I have kids and just couldn't help it. :confused3

Sorry to make a joke, but your experience is so timely considering all the threads about this very subject. What comes around goes around and hopefully karma will bite the offender in the rear.

Nope, didn't even read that thread! I probably shouldn't now that I'm ticked off, LOL!! :rotfl:

People just think the world revolves around them, bottom line. A little respect for other beings can go a long way...

I read the other threads and didn't respond. It is just too windy here to not put your cart back! I saw a brand new Durango get hit really hard last week by a stray cart caught in the wind. The owner was in the Durango and very mad! It hit so hard she honked her horn, I think she thought a car hit her! It was that windy! I'm sorry about your car! What a pain!

OP, so sorry to hear about your car. This is a really big pet peeve with me. Maybe the people who don't think respect for other people's cars is important enough to put their carts in the corral should have to put stickers on their cars. That way, we can make sure we bang their doors with ours when we get out.

It drives me NUTS when people don't put their cart away. I did have one lady come up to me just as I was getting to my car and say "I'll take your cart since you weren't going to put it away anyway". WTH??? I ALWAYS put my cart away and in this case hadn't even gotten my car open to put stuff away yet.

I hate it when a lazy POS won't put their cart back in the corral but has plenty of energy when something happens to THEIR car.

I'm sorry that your car got dinged up. Hopefully the same thing will happen to the person who left their cart out and teach them a lesson.

ETA: I'm all in favor of a credit card deposit or something like that so that people actually return their carts. Or maybe they should take $20 bills instead of quarters!

You know, in all my years of parking in grocery store parking lot, I've never once had my car banged up by a runaway cart. While there are occasional exceptions, I think the drama factor is in high gear here. I almost always put my cart away in the corral, but there have been times that I haven't. I don't deserve to have someone bang their carts or doors into my car on purpose because of it. I suppose someone who does that in retribution would be just a big of POS as the person who left the cart in the first place.

Seeing as you are wishing such bad karma for those you don't know...maybe you all that have been hit are on the receiving end.....I think it works on thoughts too!

I haven't read the other thread and I know your joking. But, I am adding that I always park far out in the parking lot, and I have a wonderful dent in my bumper that I got when my car was only 2 months old, courtesy of a Target cart. I started a thread on it when it happened and it got really ugly too. I need to learn to shop at stores that have the damageless wayward carts ;) .

Sometimes a little drama factor is fun! :teeth:

3 weeks old! Ours was 3 weeks old when I parked at the FURTHEST spot in the Walmart (yes WALMART :earseek: ) parking lot when my van was hit with a runaway cart on the front fender.

I was sick because I had done all that I thought that I could do to protect my pretty, new van (other than leaving it in the driveway) and it got hit anyway.

On the same van it happened again to my hood in front of a grocery store.

On the same van it happened again to my front bumper in Sam's parking lot.

So maybe some of you have never had a car hit by an unsecured shopping cart, I would bet that many have. And if not, I must be making up for the rest of you. :rolleyes2

I started to read the other thread but didn't finish it. Someone actually said if your car is hit by a cart it could be your own fault because of where you parked it? :confused3

:wave2:

Mine's been hit. It was only a few months old. At six months old, that's the only mark on the whole car.

Did you try calling car junk yards? Years ago I had something similiar happen to my VW, I think someone backed into my car in the lot. DH called some junk yards and they had the part (plastic cover for my headlight) from a VW in their yard, we paid like 10.00 for it. Fit perfectly and looked brand new. Just an idea.
