Well, I know it is too late for this instance, but for next time. PLEASE.

DS's daycare is having 'theme days' asll week, because it is our Spring Break week (read school vacation) Well, they combine the school age kids with the Kindergarteners for vacation weeks. Tomorrow is Western/Cowboy day. We were talking to DS's teacher tonight before we left, and we were mentioning the only real Western thing we have is his Sherriff Woody doll. So his teacher said, oh, I have some cow pattern material in the closet, I can give you some, and you can make him a little vest. And, in some bizzaro, Twilight Zone moment, I agreed!!! I am the least (THE LEAST) crafty, creative, talented person you know. Trust me on this, I know of what I speak.

SO here I sit, with 4 pieces of flannel, cut out, and pinned, in the general shape of a vest, and wondering how I will get it all together for the morning. Duct Tape? Iron on seam tape? Hand Sew them? Ack!!!

The next time ANY of you see or hear me agree to do anything crafty, please link me back to this thread, and bop me upside the head. Please and Thank You.

Off to find needle and thread.

Debbie, I will only say one thing to you... duct tape works wonders... next time use it on your mouth before you say anything ;)

Seriously good luck to you. I am sure you will do just fine and Bubble Boy will look wonderful!!!

Aww, that sounds cute!! Good luck! I love being crafty, when it comes to kids projects. In fact sometimes I go overboard. However when it comes to like decorating crafty or sewing, etc, forget it, I am a mess LOL.

I have always wanted to be a preschool or an elementary school teacher because I love coming up with the little ideas:D Of course all of them would have some kind of Disney theme!

Have fun

{{{BOP!}}} upside your head cause that is what a good sistah does ;)

OK now to the hard part you can just.....awww heck missus, I guess the non creative part is another trait we share. How about some PD and hopes that another good creative Diser can help you out:D

Deb, I feel your pain!!!! If you have it in the general shape of a vest just join the pieces together.....sew if you want to....duct tape if you don't. He'll love it no matter what, unless of course your kid is like mine....he'd refuse to wear it once it's done!!!!!

lol Elaine--That's the first thing I thought of when I typed out Duct Tape. Use it on the mouth.

Thanks Gemmie, I needed that.

dvcfamily--they have 2 Disney theme days coming up this summer, it will be very cute.

Gail--I took your advice, it had the basic general shape of a vest, so assemble we did.

****I must now go on record and say whoever invented that iron on hem tape is a brilliant genius, and I am forever in their debt. I think I would still be threading the needle, but the 4 pieces are together, and setting. I have to take up the shoulders a little, but that has to wait til the morning, when the 'model' is awake again. :teeth:

Thanks for the support folks!!! I appreciate it.

What are you thanking me for, the Bop upside your head or the PD:teeth:

Glad you got it together Deb :) I am sure it looks great.

Jana, I think she is referring to the bopping ;)

You got it all done? Excellent :teeth:

I was going to suggest a hot glue gun but it sounds like you did just fine without it :)

Ooooh Katholyn, I did not think of a hot glue gun. That's another great idea!!! I'll file that one away for future reference.

Jana--I was thanking you for the bopping. I still need all the PD I can muster for the shoulders.

Well of course you'd still be threading the needle..... well with your deteriorating eyesight and all. Maybe you could glue a horse head on the end of your cane and let the little guy take "Silver" to school.

You are going to post a picture of the Lil' Cowpoke and his sticky vest aren't ya???

This isn't going to be much good for this project but I picked up a great book at Costco several months ago called "Disney's Ultimate Craft Book" (153 crafts and magical recipes) put out by Disney Press. For the non-crafty type there's a chapter called "Ten-Minute Crafts for Peschoolers". Many of the projects use items from around the house like paper plates, tin foil, foil pie pans etc.

Good luck on the vest!!

Well---It is finished, and he looks awfully cute! I took some pictures, and will get them posted tonight. We have to leave now. Thanks for all the good wishes and PD last night, I NEEDED it.

Off to take the little cowpoke to school :teeth:

Ok, I was reading through this thread thinking it was cute and kinda funny until I got to fishbone's reply. Then I am really LOL. So funny!
I can't wait to see the pics of your little cowpoke Deb. I bet he was soooooo cute!

I am very impressd that you did it! I myself cant sew a button, so I can understand the predicament you were in. So glad it turned out ok and I cant wait to see pictures.

Deb.. I can not sew a lick... maybe a hole in my pants but that is it.. 4-H did not help me a bit when it came to sewing projects...

BUT I can make anything out of a Paperbag!!! LOL.. Really did two cowboy vests when the boys were little.. poor kids... but they wore them forever!

GOOD LUCK.. from another craft-inept mom!

but dang Girl.. WE CAN COOK!!!

Mamajoan--lol we CAN cook indeed.

Are you kidding me, I used the 'Native American Vest' from T-Giving (made out of a paper bag) as kind of a template.

I already have the preliminary plans for his B-Day cake. (Alien Spaceship theme). For some reason, that is not nearly as daunting.

I just hope it stays together for the day!

I can so relate to this thread. I can't sew a bit, as a matter of fact the needle usually wins the battle when I even try to sew a button on. My cooking is better but lets just say that cleaning is my forte. ;)
