Some unexpected asthma triggers

DD (16) and I are just back from a week at the World. She uses a manual w/c and also has asthma. Some asthma triggers we didn't expect:

*Dining at Teppan Edo (where they cook the food right in front of you)
*Hay and grasses at Animal Kingdom (the Conservation Station). She's okay with animals, but the hay made her wheezy.
*Smoking. Even though most smokers stay in the designated areas, there were always a few who didn't. Also, the smoke from the desingated areas wafts into other parts of the parks.

One other note: the "smoke" in the Alien part of the Great Movie Ride (Studios) and at the Spectromagic parade (MK) didn't bother her at all. I assume it is water vapor or the like.

Thanks for the heads up.
I think the smoke in the Great movie ride and Spectromagic are theatrical smoke, which is usually something like dry ice or vaporized glycol. It's not likely to cause problems with very short exposure - especially outside like in the parade.

I have reactive airway disorder and had a very unexpected trigger that had me scrambling for my inhailer. I inadvertantly (without even thinking it might be a problem) took a deep breath as our boat traveled through the mist screen with Davy Jones in the Pirates of the Carribean. Not sure why but that caused me to start to close up fast. The next time we went on I held my breath (and my inhailer) as we traveled through the mist and I was fine

my son also has reactive airway disease /asthma- I wasn't prepared for him to have attacks with the Florida Air conditioning! We have central air at home and he's never had any problems with extreme temps... but I think being in Florida in the summer- going from the extreme heat (outdoors) to the extreme cold (indoors) really affected his breathing...
Thanks for the heads up about the other triggers- I never thought of the DAvy Jones scene!

If you go to Wilderness Lodge and the fireplace is going it can trigger an asthma attack.

Dry ice can actually be really hard on some of us with respiratory issues.

I was meaning outside, where it's dispersed more. I should have been more clear.

Dry ice in a small airspace can be hard even on people without respiratory issues.

I find some rides to be musty and bothersome. It's usually the ones that have a lot of water indoors. Especially the older rides. Also the smell of smoke is pretty strong in the spaceship earth in the beginning of the ride.
