I work in Trenton and knew all the details (and some not yet public) around 1PM today. The gay stories have been pretty much considered fact for years.

I think it took a lot of guts to say it on TV.

Maybe someday people won't feel that they have to live a lie because they are gay.

He's not resigning because he's gay.....there's a sexual harassment lawsuit being filed tomorrow by the former Director of Homeland Security for the state of NJ.....this story is far from over, IMO

ITA Mr. MouseFan. Much of my family is from Woodbridge where he was mayor, and it seemed to be pretty common knowledge that he was gay. My father is pretty active in politics, and he knew years ago that McGreevey is gay.

He is not resigning because he is gay. He is resigning over the scandal and corruption that has stigmatized his entire administration. I really believe he is simply using his homosexuality as an excuse to resign.

Being gay and hiding it left him vulnerable to the blackmail, which many believe is retaliation by one of the figures in the fundraising scandal.

It is also common knowledge that his wife knew the score from the start.

There's no way you or he could convince me that it has nothing to do with the fact that he's gay. Let's look at various other politicians that have held heterosexual affairs that didn't resign, and are still publicly well liked.

I'd like to add that he's not the one who said he's resigning because he's gay, I beleive, though, from the state of this country in the gay 'debate' right now, that it has a HUGE influence on his resignation.
