Some Typhoon Lagoon questions

We live in Florida and visit Disney annually but have never been to a disney water park. We frequent Adventure Island in Tampa, probably visit there 3 or 4 times each summer and we "know the routine" there. We obviously don't know our way around Typhoon Lagoon but we're gonna try it this June.

Is there a map online?

Is there a "good" place to stake out a spot? At Adventure Island, we would camp out by a place called Splash attack which is like a water playground thing(for big kids) so while we were resting, the kids could bounce around in there if they were ready to move before we were. Is there a place like this at Typhoon Lagoon?

I hear you cannot grab a picnic table but you just grab chairs...is that true?We are a party of 5 but would only need maybe 3 chairs because I imagine we won't spend much time in them and we can share...I think...what do you recommend? At Adventure Island, we'd grab a picnic table but I guess you don't do that here.

We're not big "thrill ride" people but do enjoy the mellower slides...what do you recommend? What do you NOT recommend?

What else can you tell me? I love details! We are Me, DH, DD12, DDF12, and DS9.

Thanks!

A map is at http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/tlmap.html

We like to go to the right to get our spot (we get the same one each time). That takes us away from the families with little children - kiddie area is left.

Every time we get our picnic table under a cover with about 6 chairs with it. (there are usually 12 of us). People often walk by and compliment us on our wonderful hide-a-way :)

I suggest you watch Summet Plummet, that is enough fun for me. I went once, eewwww. Then decide if you want to ride. Haven't been on the new one yet. All the rest are fine. Do Shark Reef ! Do if first thing in the day ( we do it several times) while it isn't crowded and they haven't stirred up the sediment. Later on it's not as pretty, they hurry you along, and it can get alittle un-controlled. (ps check your snorkel before you push off to make sure it isn't leaking)

We always take a cooler with drinks, a few snacks, but buy our lunches as it's not unreasonable there. We all buy the kids lunch - Grilled Cheese Soft Pretzels that come in a sand bucket/shovel. SO yummy and the money we save goes to our ice cream later.

Take disposable underwater cameras. Takes good pictures in shark reef and I take it on all the slides.

Have Fun ! :cool1:

Thanks for your help HopperFan! You've raised another question that I meant to ask.....Usually if a kids meal comes with a bucket or something you can order it without that and save a buck or two...has anybody done this at TL?

Hmmm, never tried that. I now remember at MGM being able to get the kids meals with or without a "lunchbox" but I don't remember at TL if it was an option. I guess it just wasn't that much and the pail is your basic cheap one so I can't imagine them knocking much off the price.

It does include "a Sand Pail, Shovel, Chips, and choice of small milk, juice or soda ~ Grilled Cheese Pretzel $3.99"
