Some Still Photos of OKW Refurb Studio

We were in an OKW 2 BR in July. I don't mind the laminate floor....easier to clean than a carpet.

I don't love the renovation...it's OK, but it doesn't really say "Key West" to me like the previous decor did. And in my mind "old" Key West was probably very casual...almost that "shabby chic" look, with those big palm frond fans, whitewashed (or sunbleached) furniture, colorful "islandy" type cloth goods (curtains, spreads). I don't love the dark headboard and kitchen table either....

To my taste, the previous decor/color scheme was more Key West than this.

Yes, I've been saying this same thing ever since I posted my "good, bad, and ugly" post on the OKW renovations. I just feel like they cheaped out and took away some of the uniqueness of OKW by making it look more like "run of the mill timeshare".

I don't know if it looks like "run of the mill" timeshare so much as it looks more like the furnishings belong in the Boardwalk Villas. They seem a bit too "fancy" for the Key West vibe. I always think of dark furnishings as more formal....

I haven't been to Key West in years....literally since I was a kid so probably close to 40 years, so I have no "current knowledge" of Key West other than the "vibe" I get from Jimmy Buffett music. ;) "Dark" just doesn't come into my mind when I think Key West.

Maybe they were going for the "Ernest Hemingway" look?

I saw a picture of the studio on another site, it said it was refurbished... but the picture had the fridge by the bed not in the kitchenette. Is this for real?

Actually, the accessible studios have the refrigerator next to the bed.

That is correct.
The refrigerator in the accessible studio is by the bed because the sink has to have room for someone using a wheelchair to roll under the sink. They have always been like that.
This is a picture of the sink area of the accessible studio (before renovation)

I agree.
I did like the laminate flooring because it is easy to clean. I always wounded just how dirty that carpet was.

I agree about Key West. The new renovation is not Key West. It's not even luxury hotel.

Well, since the theme of OKW is supposed to be 1900 Key West, I think it's safe to say the current decor doesn't really fit the theme that well. It wouldn't matter if it has been that long since you were there.
