Hello all, we are in the first phase of planning a trip to WDW for 2009 and I have been reading about many of you renting a home with a pool instead of staying on WDW property.

Does anyone know of any rental homes that are pet friendly , we travel with a small doggie ( housebroken of course ) ?

I have looked online and of course there are tons of rental homes that look beautiful but we all know how that can be, does anyone know of a house that is very clean well kepted and would make staying there a treat not a nightmare ?

And how do you know you will get your security deposit back, they could end up saying " this is missing " or "this was broke ", how do you protect yourselve against that ?

I would need something not to far from WDW and it would have to have at least three bedrooms.

If anyone can lead me in the right direction I would be so greatful, word of mouth is better than surfing the internet to find something that appears great and you get there and it's run down, I want something really nice, if I wanted to stay in a dump I would just stay home..hehe :lmao:

Thanks so much !

I really like www.vrbo.com. Look for the paw print paw: You will probably have to pay a bit more for the security deposit.

I also try to look for a newer home. The first year we went to WDW the rental house was so tired and worn...my own home seemed luxurious!:rotfl: Try to choose ones that show you lots of photos. Look at the details...do the appliances in the kitchen look new? How about the bathroom? Really study what you see. Also look at the floor..does the rug look worn? These are just some of the things I try to look for.

As far as getting the security deposit back...My first tip would be to go through the house as soon as you get there. If there are any major problems call the management company right away. That way it's documented that it was there when you got there. You could also do a walk through with your video camera as soon as you arrive and just before you leave. Be sure to have the date and time on the screen while your filming.
Other than that you just have to trust the owner, just as they are trusting you not to destroy their home.

As for location...I like the Davenport area. Very nice neighborhoods, there is a food store there and it's close and easy drive to WDW. I like The Abbey. It's a neighborhood in Davenport. It's a gated community and most of the homes are newer.

I hope I answered all your questions. I'm sure others will chime in as well. If you have any more questions, just ask!

Have a great trip!!
