Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but the search function for this forum isn't working for me and when I do a global search I get answers for the US parks which I'm not sure apply to DLP :confused3

Either way, here are the questions that I have:

1. Exactly what type of food am I allowed to bring into the park? I know you're not supposed to bring a full MEAL, but are apples, granola bars, and maybe a pretzel or a sandwich allowed??? We are staying at the Davy Crockett Ranch and we are planning on bringing a few snacks (fruits mainly) with us to tide us over in the park until it's time for us to have our big meal. I assume water is allowed in the parks???

2. We are booking the basic Half Board and I have a few questions about that. Am I allowed to choose whatever I want from the menu or do will I be told what I can choose from? I looked at a menu from Annette's diner online and all of the meals were less than the 19€ that the HB Voucher costs...so I assume I can put my own meals together??

3. What type of bags do you recommend in DL? I don't plan on taking a handbag since I don't want to leave them with the attendants for the rides (had a BAD BAD BAD experience at Six Flags in the states where my Fendi Baguette was stolen and I'd rather not do that again.)...I'm assuming a fanny pack and maybe a little backpack would be enough?

4. How in the world do you guys dress for DLP?? I have told all the members of my party not to bring heeled shoes (high heels or something) because we will be walking pretty much all day and that tennis shoes would probably be the best to walk in. I was planning on paring them with either training pants (so that I can be comfortable) or jeans...I'm sure that's fine?

5. Since we're staying at the DCR, we will be having the boxed breakfast and from what I understand there are instant coffee packets included. Does anyone who stayed at DCR remember if there are electrical plugs in the kitchen?? If so, I will bring my own coffee pot and coffee, I can't stand the taste of instant!

Those are pretty much all the questions I can think of right now...I'm very excited for my disney trip and I just want to do everything right!! :D

1) when they check your bags they are not really checking for food.
we brought drinks and snacks eg raisins, cereal bars, crisps no problem.
we brought bottles of water, then just refilled them at the drinking fountains.

2) don't know sorry

3) i took a normal shoulder bag, didnt leave it when we went on any rides ( a few rides one of our friends didnt go on ,so was bag holder lol but the rest i took it on to the ride no problem)
my son also took a small backpack for the snacks / raincoats etc!
( i wouldnt take a designer bag just in case though !)

4) your feet / legs WILL ache! i recommend comfy comfy shoes ! i wore flip flops in the nice weather and either trainers or cat / timberland boots in the cold weather.
i wear jeans when cold and comfy linen trousers etc when warmer

5) dont know sorry

Ok I'll answer as many as possible for you

1) As far as I know you'll be ok taking any amount of food inside the park with you. We have never ever had a problem taking food into the park. My parents udes to take us to the DCR for that exact reason :)

2) I haven't used the half board plan but from what I gather you can use them as payment towards more expensive meals, so you'd be able to pick whatever you want from the menu, then use the vouchers as part/full payment

3) I'd take a bum bag (fanny pack) or a small backpack with me, you'd be allowed to take them on the rides with you, never, ever had a bag taken off of me for any ride, just make sure that they are secure on rides like SM2 and RnR ;)

4) Basically dress as you would for any other theme park. Make sure that you have something waterproof though as you can almost be assured of rain in DLRP in any season. Heels would probably be a no-no

5) I haven't stayed in the DCR since 1998 but as it has a kitchen I'd imagine that it will have plug sockets. They will definatly have a plug socket somewhere int the room, you could just move the kettle to the plug socket :woohoo:

RE: The Bag.... I personally take an across body handbag. I take one like this because:

1. My mother has a serious thing about getting your bag stolen. This happens very rarely, but she freaked out last time because I had never been abroad without her before. Across body bags mean they aren't able to be swiped when you're wearing them, plus, in restaurants I could wrap the strap around my leg, meaning I knew where it was all the time. (No, crime is not rife in DLRP, so I hope I'm not alarming you here!!)

2. They are easy to carry round the park and it means that you'll have your hands free.

3. They are better for taking on the rides as you know where they are and you're in no danger of loosing the bag.

I also think bumbags/fanny packs are a good idea, its just my fiancee would disown me if I wore one.... :sad2:

Hope thats helped on the bag front!!! :goodvibes

Infact thinking about it I've got one at my Mum and Dad's with EuroDisneyland on it :lmao: :rotfl2:

We've never had problems taking food (ie snacks) in the parks. We always buy big bottles of water at the train station and that lasts us for a bit. Noone says anything.

Sorry don't know

I take a little bag where I carry passports and my wallet and DH has a backpack with things for the girls. We also never leave the bags on the buggy just in case. Have seen people with designer ags etc but that's not my thing...

4. How in the world do you guys dress for DLP?? I never wear high eels so for me its easy. In April and also last year I wore my Crocs. Fabulous and comfy. I think I'm going to invest in a different type of Crocs for our trip in Dec (suitable for cold/wet days)

Sorry, have no idea.

Have a great time:)

I don't think I will run into anyone I know there, so wearing a fannypack is okay for me :D LOL

Thanks for all the great answers everybody!! I really appreciate it :) I guess we will also bring some bread, nutella, peanutbutter, etc to make sandwiches!

Hooray, so stinking excited for this trip!!!

We always take a bottle of diluting juice with us.... It saves us quite a bit of money as we aren't always popping out just for a drink.

I was going to buy a fanny pack but it doesnt go with any of my outfits lol.

Have a great time :)

LOL, thanks guys!! I am going shopping tomorrow for some activities for a 5 year old to do in the car (I already got some lillifee books on CD that I will transfer to my ipod) and I also want to buy a little drawing mat thing.

I will check the store to see if they have any good bags where I can put my stuff in! :D

PS: Anybody got any additional info on how the half board really works??

We used half board plus and could either choose from set menus or choose from normal menu and pay the difference - they were equivalent to £25 so I assume its the same for normal half board but with lesser value.

I always take a small back pack to carry things round and have taken it on all rides. On BTM (only coaster I go on) I put it on the floor with my foot through the handle. Id be more worried security wise if people did start leaving loads of bags whilst they went on rides

Shoe wise - crocs are fantastic. I know they're ugly before anyone says it but they are so comfy. I used to wear trainers in DLP and always ended up with loads of blisters until I discovered crocs last summer and Ive never looked back - not a blister since.

There are plug sockets in DCR and there is also a coffee machine - sure theres a picture of it in DCR thread (posted by HildasMuriel yesterday in her post)

I would also invest in a pair of Crocs, but Robert would definately disown me then!!

:rotfl:

i used to hate crocs too ( on adults) but quite like the dolly shoe style ones now :) not so clumpy looking!

I just suggested this to him and he said he would dump me if I even considered buying Crocs..........!!

I told DH I would divorce him if he grew a beard .... so he grew one.

I punished him though by staying with him as I thought hes not getting rid of me that easily. :rotfl:

BTW he doesnt have the beard now

I've tried that with him.... Sadly he sorta clings onto my legs and won't let go....

....When its him giving the ultimatum though, that tactic won't work!!

I have tried on a few pairs of Crocs but I couldn't bring myself to buy them! I can just imagine how bad my feet would sweat / stink in there at the end of the day (P-U)

We were vacationing in Austria a few weeks ago at a large lake and nearly EVERY FAMILY we saw had crocs on....I think my family must have been in the minority since I wore flip flops the whole time and so did pretty muche veryone else I was traveling with!! :p

Your feet stay cool in crocs but when its cold they keep them warm - they are amazing and mine arent even proper ones just the cheap imitation kind - the best £5 I ever spent
