Some questions before buying

Thanks for any help given on these questions!

1) I would likely make my visits during late June, July, August or possibly Nov. I was offered a use year of December. Would this work for me?
2) They are currently offering for the AKV's but I am thinking this might not be the best place for my family of 6 since I prefer to not deal with buses. Ideally I probably would like the BWV or BCV since I like the option of walking to Epcot and the boats to MGM.
3) Do the points that are required for each of the categories at the resorts change each year? So for example if a 2 BR for July is 350 pts at a resort for 2008, will it always be 350 pts? My obvious worry is that they raise it and more points would have to be purchased.
4) How realistic would be be that during the summer there would be rooms available for me at BWV or BCV or anyplace else for that matter if my home resort was AKV's?
5) If I was to purchase an additional 50 points for another resort, would I be able to book at that resort 11 months out and use all the points I have available for both resorts?
6) Do you think if I asked my sales rep to sell me 200 pts for AKV's but I would also want 50 BWV points that I could get that?
7) The sales rep noted the annual point fees usually rise 3 to 4% each year. Does this seem right?

9) The sales rep told me I had until I left to accept the deal they offered for buying at AKV but I'm now home. Do you think the deal would still be available? I frankly was not ready to purchase w/o doing more research in such a short period of time. The deal was an $8/pt discount off the $104 price and giving me the number of points I purchased free to be used in a year. Good deal? I figured as long as they were making the same offer to people down there it would still be available to me.

Thanks very much!

Gee, those potential trip dates are pretty spread out. I would think that a Feb, Apr, or June UY would be better for you if I ignore the November dates. Including the November dates, then I would look for a June UY.

If you would prefer BCV or BWV, then as much as I love AKV, I would recommend that you do not purchase AKV but buy BCV or BWV instead. If you aren't thrilled with the buses, one drawback to BCV and BWV is that you share buses with the other EPCOT area resorts for MK and AK. But as you stated, you can walk to take a boat to EPCOT and DHS.

The points will not change year to year. The only change you will see is that the various "seasons" will vary year to year but the total number of points throughout a year won't change. For example, where "Premier" season is during the spring may vary based upon when Easter is.

Sorry I haven't booked for summer trips so I can't help here.

5) If I was to purchase an additional 50 points for another resort, would I be able to book at that resort 11 months out and use all the points I have available for both resorts?

No you won't. At 11 months, the points can only be used at the home resort. Let's say you have 200 points at BWV and then do a 50 point add-on at VWL. Well at 11 months, you can use 200 points at BWV and/or 50 points at VWL. You can not use 250 points at one of the resorts at 11 months. However at 7 months, then you can use the 250 points at one resort.

6) Do you think if I asked my sales rep to sell me 200 pts for AKV's but I would also want 50 BWV points that I could get that?

Evenutally yes, but maybe not right away. It will depend upon which UY you get at AKV and if there are points available in that UY at BWV. If the points aren't availble, then you will need to go on a waitlist for the BWV points. By the way, your guide can sell you points from any resort that has points available. They will encourage you to buy AKV points and those will be the only points with incentives (except maybe SSR) but as long as Disney as the points, they can sell you any of the resorts.

7) The sales rep noted the annual point fees usually rise 3 to 4% each year. Does this seem right?

Probably, I haven't been a member long enough (1+ years) to really know but someone will be able to post the MF chart with the history over the years.

I'm not certain if you are aware but you can buy BWV or BCV directly from Disney if you would like. You might have to wait until they have some points available and you won't have any purchase incentives like the AKV purchase, but it's possible to buy all your points at either of those resorts.

And of course there's always resale. You would probably be able to get a better deal on BWV by buying resale. Not so much of a difference on BCV though as those contracts are usually priced higher than other resorts.

I'd also say the odds are VERY good that your guide will still give you the same deal on AKV even though it's past the deadline he stated.

Regarding #6 - Keep in mind the BWV points you purchase will not count towards any incentives you are receiving for the AKV purchase. The price will be more as well.
