Some questions about staying onsite

So, we're considering staying a RPR in the middle of our Disney stay-- Saturday, August 27th. We'd arrive probably between 9-10 at night, enjoy the hotel, wake up early, enjoy IOA/US and then leave with the Mears shuttle probably an hour or hour and a half after IOA closes back to our Disney resort.
Some questions:
1) If we arrange it in advance, will they hold our room until 10 pm?
2) Is this plan worth the extra cost? How busy will WWoHP be on a Sunday in late August. The last time I was at Universal was late August of 2008 and the parks were dead.
3) Does RPR have a bells service or something similar where we could leave our bags while we enjoy the parks?
4) When could we check out? If we checked out early in the morning, before we hit the parks, would our room key still work for early entry/express pass? I wouldn't want to leave the parks midday to check out.
5) How long does it take to walk to IOA from RPR?

Sorry for the questions! I'm not an US/IOA newbie, but I know NOTHING about staying onsite!

Yes to all except is it worth it. If you are only using it for the one day I would say no. If you arrived early the first day for a total of 2 days than yes.:thumbsup2

Oh, the walk is about 8-10 minutes to IOA.

re: your #3, leave bags with valet.

i don't think you would have any issues with a backpack, but i know you can't take luggage on the mears shuttles.

(when you say bags, i don't know if you mean something small and light or a large duffel bag..)
