how is it fair that some people get pin codes & others never do? How does Disney actually think this is fair? I have been there 8 or 9 times, and have never received one. Yet I know people who have received several.

Just something that is bugging me today!

I agree, but that's probably because I have never received one either. LOL

Wow.. that's a pretty significant string of no love.

Where do you live -in broad terms- in the US? Abroad?

I almost hate to say it - but consider ordering the vacation planning DVD ... it might actually help get you in the running.

Seriously.

I've done it all! Oh well.........

I live in PA. Have been there lots of times, and except for once, have always stayed in the park.

It may not be fair, but it is just the same as all the stores that send out different discounts to different households. Life isn't always fair.

I never received very many (maybe got the code for Free dining right before it went public) until this year. I've gotten 2 or 3 this year alone. We've been a total of 5 times since 2005, but we haven't been at all since late 2008. Maybe it has something to do with the length of time since your last visit? :confused3 Does that make sense?

I agree and I occasionally get the codes! Here's what I've done which may contribute to why...
I have the Disney Visa, I've ordered the planning DVD, I receive Family Fun Magazine (didn't even know at the time it was Disney owned), and I registered my email address on the disney website.
I hope that helps...Good luck!

Here is a trick I learned on the Dis to get a pin code. Go to the WDW web site. Enter in a trip, and there is a spot that will ask if you want to save that trip info. Say yes! I did that, and voila, had a pin within a month.

I understand everyone wants a discount. Me too! But I don't take it personal when I don't get one. If they offered them to everyone, they might as well just lower their rack rates, and I can't see that happening!

No one knows for sure why some people get pin codes and others do not, or why some get them more frequently than others. People say it's the DVD, others have ordered it and still didn't get a code...we simply do not know. Personally, I have found that the more often I go, the less often I receive a pin. Our last trip under our name was in 2008...and I have received a few pins since then. Prior to that, the last time I received one was when Animal Kingdom Lodge was in its first year because we were offered an amazing rate for it. But others have had different experiences. It just goes to show that there's no foolproof way to get a code, and we're not really sure why some do and some don't.

I find that bolded part to be true...

When I was going every six months like clockwork - I got maybe 1 pin I think.

My last trip was September of 2008 - and I've been flooded with them since then.

If you figure it out let me know. I have been to WDW 25 times since 1974 (been paying my own way since 1990) started going back approx 2x a year since 2004, so from 2004 till 2009 never saw a pin and had signed up for every Disney owned website, contest and planning DVD they had. :confused3 I received 4 last year!?!

I don't think it's fair.

I did everything recommended and got nada. I would be ticked if I had been over and over again and got nothing while others did. Why should one person have to pay more than another for the same thing. We should not have to haggle over room rates. It would make me feel like my business was less valuable to them.

I do have a Disney Visa and am using the kids eat free deal with them. But no, it's not fair. Life's not fair I know, but Disney should be.

No they don't. Some stores only send out flyers to some households.
::yes:: A couple of cable companies ago, I was visiting my mom when a door to door sales rep stopped by with a REALLY great offer. They weren't interested, but I was. Do you know, despited living in the SAME (48,000 resident) city, they were eligible for the deal but I was not????? Just because I lived in a different section of the city? How is THAT fair?

But, it happens. It's marketing.

It may be worth calling WDW and asking if there is a pin code associated with your name. That is what I did in early 2008....I was able to get the 40% room discount, despite never receiving a hard copy or email pin offer.

We have been over 20 times and have never received a pin. We've gotten the DVD every year, booked packages directly, saved packages, etc. I guess it just isn't meant to be.

No pins here either - Canadian

- have registered my e-mail AND my husband's on WDW
- under my ID on WDW's site I have explored a few different packages
- under my husbands ID I have explored packages & saved a few offers
- under my ID on WDW I look up all kinds of information about WDW
- have completed every survey offered (online and phone)
- registered on the Disney Store
- have been receiving the FamilyFun Weekender (email) for a couple of years
- have been receiving the FamilyFun Printables (email) for a couple of years
- receive the Disney Insider via e-mail
- ordered the Disney planning DVD when we decided we should take a trip
- ordered the Adventures by Disney info package (because it looks like fun!)
- and of course about once a week I end up phoning and asking if there's a pin associated with our last name :)

Nothing.. nada... zip (sigh)

We got 2 pin codes but nothing we could use. I guess if they offered these pin codes to everyone, all the time, they wouldnt really be discounts. We would love to get a usefull pin. Maybe free dining?????????? Disney, hello??? Pin please!!!! for all of us!
