My DH took the kids around around our neighborhood to trick-or-treat. They walked up to a house in the next block that had all their lights on. As our kids walked ahead of DH, they reached the door before he did. There was a sign at child's eye level that read, "Trick or Treat, my ***!" Classy, aren't they?

If people don't want to participate in giving out candy, I respect that and have neighbors that choose not to celebrate. Why not write a note saying that you don't want to celebrate Halloween or whatever, instead of writing a vulgar note? I'm sick of rude people!!!!!!

If I wasn't 39 yrs. old, I would go and egg their house myself! Flame away!!!!!!

I think turning the outside lights out would have been sufficient.

That was uncalled for....why didn't they just not turn on their porch light?

People can be so disappointing.

GMTA, Mimi Q. We posted at the same time.

When I was a teen we filled a snotty girls' mailbox with potato salad. Much more effective than the egging! What idiots.

No flames here! That's just totally out there. Looney Tunes.

I would not be at all surprised if those peope wake up to some type of nasty Halloween trick in the morning....

Well, that was really rude! I would have torn the sign down! Ha!

Guess what happened to my kids tonight? They were given EASTER candy! You could tell the wrappers were old looking too (as if someone had handled them a lot). I would have rather those people not even hand out candy if they have to hand out OLD candy. I threw it away.

we went to a house with all its lights on and they knocked and we waited for a good few minutes. they left, got to the sidewalk, he opened the door looked at my kids, they went back and he SLAMMED the door before they could get on the deck again. We drove by it and all the lights were out. I told my kids "don't worry there are cranky people out even on Halloween and lets have some more fun " and we walked away.

Wow, that's bad. We had a guy on our street who had his light on, left a bowl of candy on the porch with a sign that said, "Do not disturb. Meeting in progress. Trick-or-treaters ONLY between 5:00-6:00pm." The note just had cranky connotations. I almost just think it would have been better to turn the porch light off and not participate. But at least it was nothing profane.

That's such a shame! The kids are so cute and so excited especially when they're little. I can't imagine being so mean.

I'm so tempted to egg this moron's house, but with my luck I would probably end up getting arrested tonight. ;) Besides, how would I explain that one to my kids?:scratchin :magnify:

The kids were soooo cute, especially the little ones. The parents kept instructing them on what to say; some kids stopped at our house twice and the parents kept apologizing for them :teeth: :teeth: . Too cute!

Does that house have teenagers? My SO's nephew put a similiar sign on their front door when he was about 15 yo. His mom saw the sign before any trick or treaters showed up and she had a fit and a half. He never put a sign like that on their door again.;)

That household was really missing out. I think I enjoy Halloween as much as the kids. I love to see them all dressed up in their costumes. I love to hear them say their cute little thank you's. I love to decorate the porch so I can watch their faces and their big eyes as they look around. I love it when they say, "Nice decorations, can I pat your dog?" At no other time do 150 little kids come knocking on my door and carry on a short and sweet conversation.

I feel sorry for those guys. They don't know what they are missing.

You definitely are a bigger person than I am...

A few years ago when my children were younger, I was taking them out trick or treating and this one guy was SOOOOO mad that people were walking on his grass going between houses that he went out and moved his cars around trying to block his property so that no one could get onto his ground.

He stopped me as I happened to be walking along and I'd noticed his demeanor BEFORE I got to him, then he asked me if I knew who's vehicle was parked in front of his house (I think he thought it was mine LOL). I simply told him I didn't have a clue and he huffed away looking everywhere to find out who that car belonged to. Actually, the car was parked on the road in front of his house, NOT his driveway, but that didn't matter to him at all!

He just reminded me of the Grinch who stole Christmas. All the kids I had out that night (6 total I think) just laughed at him (after we were out of range for him to hear us. In all the years we'd been out, I had never run across anyone like that before. MEAN!! LOL

I agree that simply turning off the porchlight would have been sufficient.
