Just venting slightly here.

Have you ever had someone make a really rude and uncalled for comment whilst at Disney?

We just got back a few days ago and it happened quite a few times! We were out shopping at DTD when a woman didn't look what she was doing, swung a bag she was carrying backwards and knocked my neice (aged 2 1/2) over the head and onto the floor. Obviously she was really upset and started crying, but instead of apologising, the woman actually said "Well it's your own fault for bringing kids here!" I mean WHY would anyone say that?!

Then another time we were eating at the Rainforest Cafe with the kids (5, 2, and 1). This was on our last night, and we (and the kids) loved this place so much we just had to go back. We were out in the morning, but spent the afternoon and early evening sleeping/swimming by the pool before going out to DTD for some last night shopping *sob* and finally a dinner at the Cafe at 8:45.

Towards the end of our meal, an older woman came over and told us how disgusting it was that we were "making" our children eat at that time, how kids should be banned from restaurants that late at night and how irresponsible we were for taking them out so late. I mean come on - it was our last night, they'd slept all day, and we were in Disney!! Is it just me, or are everyone's kids tucked up in bed by 7pm on vacation? And if she'd bothered to ask she'd have realised that the two eldest wanted to go back and had slept all day so that they could be out later. They'd looked forward to it all day, and we really didn't appreciate being made to feel like bad parents because we wanted our kids to have some fun. And FWIW they were all quiet and well behaved throughout the meal!!

AAARRRGGGHHH.... but I feel better for getting that off my chest ;)

Some people have no manners. Manners cost nothing. I hate being out at night when there is an obviously tired child who won't stop screaming. But if you prepare for it then it's no one elses business.

You should have calmly told the woman, "We're not from this time zone - to us it's 4pm. Mind your own business and stop harrassing my children or I'll call the police!"

That is a shame that you encountered these two insensitive folks! Bring children to Disney.... why on earth would ANYONE ever do that.... geesh - :confused3 . Maybe she was in the wrong place!

I so don't get why people don't mind there own business and mind their "space". Some people are totally "oblivious" to the fact that there are other folks around them. I am always telling DD that she has to watch out for other people because they aren't watching out for you! I often wonder why people are so concerned about what other guests are doing - are their traveling companions that uninteresting that they have to be in other guests' business?

You should have told her you were from the UK and in reality it was 1:45am (I think it's 5 hours) your time!!!

I hope you still had a wonderful magical vacation!

:rotfl2: I wish I'd thought of the time difference thing at the time :rotfl:

We didn't say anything to either of the people, it's not worth the hassle of arguments. We just laughed the woman at the restaurant off as having no clue what she was on about (which she clearly didn't). The woman who knocked into my niece ran off quickly so we couldn't do anything about her either, but that one really did bother me!!

I know last year my purse or bag that I was carrying hit a 18 month old walking.. probably a new walker.. oh.. I just felt so terrrible.. I went and got it a sucker and everything.. said sorry so many times.. but the parents were still so mad at me.. and oh.. I almost cried myself.. the baby wasn't hurt or anything.. but they just had an attitude with me.. I really thought they should have been carrying her.. but I did apologize 1000 times over... I did feel so bad.. even until the rest of the night.. I just felt terrible. :sad2:

We live in a small and friendly town. When we travel, it takes me a day to realize why people are looking at me funny when I smile at them. We smile at everyone here, but when I do it there people look at me so rudely that it makes me feel bad. I think the strangers are thinking that I am up to something because I am smiling at them.

The most irritating thing that happened to us on our last WDW trip was when I was in line to check in for our CRT dinner. A rude woman in front of us was taking a LONG time trying to make a reservation for her NEXT TRIP. At the restaurant! Everyone else was waiting to check in for dinner! I thought, you can call the dining number or go to the guest services instead of standing in the line! I was irritated because the time was slipping and I was scared we would miss our reservation.

It's too bad people have to be Grumpy, HELLO its DISNEY. Your suppose to leave your troubles behind.. I have noticed last few trips there does seem to be a little more of the Grumpys.. We were at MNSSH last Oct. and a group of us were going onto Buzz(about 8 adults and 3 children) during the 1st. parade, so it wasn't to busy at the ride and also my 2 yr.old nephew loves buzz. There was no line so we all started to walk in togeather and 2 people on those motorized carts cut us off and mumbled some words to us about not letting them go ahead... so we all stepped aside to let them through and the fun begins... they don't know how to drive them thru the roping and it took us about 20 mins. to get thru. I'm sorry, and don't want to be mean to people in wheelchairs but come on....

There is a line between rude and stupid. For the most part what has been described to this point has been STUPID behavior that seemed rude.

The lady that accidentially knocked down the baby and then stayed around to apologise and do whatever she could to correct the situation, bravo to you, the rude behavior came from the parents that couldn't let go of it or take any responsibility for placing their young child in harms way.

Never would I let stupid, busy bodied people ruin my day. They are the ones with the problem and they can keep it.

It was your fault for bringing a child to Disney? HUH? Maybe she should keep her wrinkly behind back at the nursing home. I think I would have laughed at her comment. How stupid.

You know, I go to Disney alot. I have never encountered rudeness to that degree. However, if I do, I shall be responding in a very UN-Disney manner. They will be asked to jump where the sun don't shine! The nerve of some people!

We all need to start carrying the Mickey smile stickers and start giving them out to the Rudies to remind them where they are.

My biggest problem is the ones that claim they don't understand english or simple hand signals Like Stop

Oh I'm sure there is one hand signal that EVERYONE would understand!!! :thumbsup2

I guess there are rude people everywhere. How sad! Did you notice that it is the adults (or the so called adults) that are the rudest. Why is it the older some people get the ruder they become. This is a lesson on what not to be like. Enjoy anyway!

Hope it didn't ruin your trip! :goodvibes

I hear you. We just whent to MNSSHP on friday. And the rudeness started in the parking lot. Ever body is trying to get on the tram to get to the monorail. These one family had to many people in the seat and started to argue with the CM that rides at the back of the tram. They finally got the act together and we moved on. We really did't see any rudeness till we where leaving. These teen jump on the monorail first and layed down across the seat making ever one eles stand. I did hear some of the guest make some comments about how rude he was. But he did not care. I just could not belive him. But in all we had lot of fun. I did see one nice act. As we were walking down the ramp from the monorail thes little boy was try to throw some gum away. But some how it got stuck on my DD shirt. The mom was so sorry and kept on apologizing. I that it was kind of funny because it was a nice color of green.

Not to very long ago there was a thread on the Dis about children being put to bed at a proper hour. My response was when is that? 8pm, 9pm? well, 8pm FL time is 5pm WASHINGTON time! My child does'nt go to bed at 5pm, he goes to bed at 8:30pm that is 11:30pm in FL.

There are so many people that are only think of themselves under the disguise of pretending to care about the "child."

I think if the first one happened, I would have stood up grabbed the ladies bag and swung it back into her and asked how she liked it? And the second one in the restaurant I would have looked around and asked her if she was with her keeper or should I call someone to take her back to the asylum she obviously belongs in.
