Ok so heres the deal... im a little on the pooh bear size by my own fault since I broke my knee i stopped playing sports and all ( its been about 5 years yikes :worried: ) now I signed up for a summer soccer league (spring had already started) and I want to get into shape we have a treadmill and a step machine and ive started to use them ( i walked 3.5 miles today) I dont want to over do it because of my knee it still gives me problems... we have a wait room at campus that i can use but my question is how do I go about putting together a training program (im kinda on a pretty tight budget so going to things like curves or weight watchers is out of the question) but i dont know really where to start Id like to do more then just walk on the treadmill because I want to gain back my arm strength so I can start rock climbing again

SO PLEASE HELP!!
Thank you so much in advance!!!! :flower: :thewave:

Sure wish I had some advice but I truly don't know how to put together a weight training program. The health club that I belong to has a weight circuit. You start with the leg machines and work your way around to the arms, back, abs machines. So I didn't really have to figure out which exercises to do - I just do the circuit.

I'm sure there are websites out there that would have some beginner programs.

Bravo to you for signing up for that soccer league - I'm always more motivated when I have a goal. Best wishes!

On the Weight Watchers website there's a very simple program with weight bearing exercises using hand held weights (usually a few dollars at a sports store). It's in the fitness section.

If you have free access to your weight room at school, ask someone who uses it to show you how to use the machines so you feel comfortable. Usually there is a required supervised tour with a trainer for newbies, but if it's not free at your school, ask a friend, or make a friend by asking a stranger!

Good luck!

Hi

Does the weight room at school have an elliptical machine? I have arthritis in both my knees and my doctor recommends that over a treadmill because it takes the stress off the knees while giving your whole body (arms included) a workout.

Also is there an indoor pool? Great exercise without putting any stress on your knees.

Good luck!!

Have a magical Disney Day!!

Talk to one of the coaches at the school. They should be able to either help you set up a program or tell you who to talk to. You want to be trained on the proper use of the equipment so you do not injure yourself.

I had one of the assistant football coaches set me up a program a year ago. He even gave me some ideas of exercised I could do at home the days I couldn't make it to campus.

:cheer2: Best of luck. :cheer2:
