Taking the family (DD 7, DS 6) for first trip at the end of next April. I've been reading reviews on this great site and have a few questions:

1. Are we permitted to make an ADR for noon at Sci-Fi for the four of us but only order food for our two kids as us adults may prefer to pick up something somewhere else? (We will not be on the DDP).
2. Is there any way to stand and watch the band perform at the Biergarten (which seems like good fun) without the four of us having to sit down and order the buffet lunch?

Would you order anything for yourselves? A beverage or appy?:confused3

1) Sci-Fi...I am sure you can but not at least ordering something to drink would seem awkward to me. And frankly, not ordering their food is a good decision on your part...their food is awful. Though, there shakes are pretty good.

2) Biergarten....I doubt it. There really is not anywhere to stand to watch here where you would not be in front of people eating or be around the buffet table. I am sure they would let you in for a few minutes to check it out but to just stand there for the entertainment would seem odd to me. But again, I don't know for sure and that is my opinion....I probably would let you in for a moment or two then usher you along if you are not staying to eat.

Wow, I ate there last week and had a Reuben and onion rings and they were excellent. There were four of us and we were all pleased with our choices from the appetizers to the hot fudge sundaes.

Back to your question...you can order only for the children. I would have to order at least a drink since I'm always thirsty.

As for Sci-Fi, why not just order a couple of appetizers for the adults? It's vacation after all! ;) JMHO, but I would feel uncomfortable just having the children eat.

At the Sci-Fi we would most certainly order drinks and perhaps an appetizer. We just may not order any of the more "main" items (like burgers etc...) and was wondering if this may be frowned upon in some way by the CM given we would be taking up two seats during a very busy time. From the helpful responses so far I think I get the picture.

Nah...you'll be fine if that's your plan! No worries.........:thumbsup2

I would order drinks and onion rings. My family loves Sci-Fi :)

Personally I don't think you should feel obligated to to place any sort of minimum order per person whatsoever. Certainly there is no minimum-order policy. We have a "late lunch" 2:30 ADR for 4 at Sci-Fi during free dining for the sole purpose of ordering a couple sundaes to share and seeing the movie trailers, and we don't plan to linger for an unduly lengthy period of time. I think the CMs understand that in the long run the small checks and big checks balance out.
