Some interesting Matterhorn Bobsled trivia

A while back there was a thread wondering if the poster should come to DLR to ride the Matterhorn.

Maybe my earliest DL memory - seeing the scaffolding of the Matterhorn under construction, which would have been the summer of 1958.

Are there still climbers on the mountain sometimes? I remember them from when I was a kid

No, sad enough to say, the climbers are gone. I always loved seeing them too and Mickey and Goofy climbing up there too. I thought I remember reading somewhere they stopped that after 9/11 for security risks (although I am not sure if that was the real reason or just someone making it up).

I wish they would come back though.

About 4 or 5 years ago (I can't remember the year) during Christmas we did see some climbers on the mountain and Mickey was on top waving down to everyone. We thought it was pretty cool since it was the first time we had ever seen anyone climbing the mountain.

Well, the terrorists have won! (Sarcasm, folks!) I would LOVE to see climbers on the Matterhorn.

I know I've seen climbers but I can't remember what trip I was on that I saw them, either 2000 or 2004.
