Some help please on this first trip in decades :)

Can I also recommend being in Carsland when the sun goes down?

If you are familiar with the movie at all (and that is probably the one movie I'd rewatch before going, if I only had time for one), they do the lighting of the neon and play Shh Boom.

All recommendations are welcome! I'll add that to the list of possible things to do/watch out for--sounds cool :)

Totally second this recommendation! Google the time for sunset on your chosen day, then be on Rte. 66 about 5-10 minutes before that (more if you want to grab a snack at the Cozy Cones first). Then find a good viewing spot (somewhere by Flo's or the Curio Shop is fine, where you can have a good view of both ends of the street). Enjoy your snack and wait for the magic to happen!
