Looking at booking a 2-night package at Universal in August. I think we're going to stay at Royal Pacific. Universal's Website was kind of confusing, and their phone support was pretty useless. So, a few questions:

1.I can't seem to track down any discounts at all for Universal. Do they have any out there, including AAA?

2.I understand you make the deposit equal to 1 nights stay when making the reservation? If I want to make payments say once per month, will Universal allow this to be done?

3.Is the Royal Pacific within easy walking distance of the parks? I know Hard Rock is, but we'd like to try RPH.

Thanks in advance.

Sometimes there are Super Saver Rates that are better than the AAA rates. I think that the rates you are looking for are not out yet. Someone else may be able to help you out with that.

I am not sure that they do this. If you are going through Universal Vacations for a package, it may be a possibility. If not, call the RPR directly and ask.

RPH is closer to IOA. HRH is closer to The Studios. Very easy walk.

Thanks in advance.

hope this helps - even a little bit :goodvibes

you will receive up to date info on discounts, including the AAA one by calling them and booking that way.
since you plan to pay in installments, you would have to call them anyway.

Yes, it's been done before.
when you call to make your ressie, tell the tm you want to talk to the accounting department to set up a monthly payment plan.

the accounting department will tell you the procedures that are to be done.

i prefer the water taxis than the walkway to the parks.
you can walk from the hotel and arrive at the end of the walkway in about 12 minutes.
you are let out on the side of the bridge which is near margaritaville.
RPH is closer to IOA than the studios side.

This is ridiculous. I've been disconnected now TWICE with the same Universal operator, after giving her my credit card twice. WTH is going on???? This has taken over 20 minutes to make a resort reservation, and I STILL don't have it finished....

EDIT: Finally got it taken care of. Operator was kind of rude. Kept putting me on hold but didn't tell me she was. In any event, I booked 2 nights at the Royal Pacific Resort for 2 adults, 3 kids, with passes to the parks for $886. Seems a bit steep, but the Universal Express is worth a few hundred bucks to me as is, so I'll take it.

sorry you had the issue over the phone, but now you are all set to go in august.

do keep checking the website for lower prices.
if they drop, call and modify your room rate. if you booked room only, you can do that.
i am assuming you booked the room and added tickets to your stay.
(did you use the AAA for the discount?)

I'm not sure exactly what I booked. The woman on the phone wasn't very helpful. I'm not overly concerned. It'd be nice if it drops to a lower price, but I'm not gonna worry about it. I've been to Universal twice, stayed on property once and truly believe that the Unlimited Express access is worth every last penny.
