Some guests don't realize that not everyone gets up at the crack of dawn.......

The place that wins the award in my book for sound carrying is the savannah at AKL. Not only can you hear everything that goes on on the balcony next to you, but the balcony next to that...and that...and that... halfway around the horseshoe shape.

I was just about to post almost this exact thing! We had our worst 'neighbor noise' experience ever when we stayed at AKL and heard every conversation on every balcony on every cell phone. It became intolerable when the people above us sent their tantrum-prone toddler out to kick the rails of their balcony over and over. No wonder we saw so few animals on our savannah! In my letter to Disney, I suggested that they place a decal on the balcony rails reminding people that noise carries.

I propose they put signs up stating that! I think that some people think just because they pay a lot of money at Disney they can do what they want and their darling little monsters are entitled to act however they want. IMO Disney is still a resort and just because it's Disney, we shouldn't have to put up with other people's rudeness in these resorts. If we were paying $100-$450 night elsewhere, you bet your butts we'd be calling down at the front desk every time a child kicked a balcony over and over or an ajoining door! I wish at the resort Disney would enforce the "quiet" rule and not look the other way when it comes to disturbing another guest's vacation. BTW, I am a bit guilty of not calling the front desk, we did on the 3rd night, but it continued 2 more nights after that and we didn't do anything, but I think we should have and I believe others should too. I mean I told my son if he bounced his ball one more time in the room I was throwing it away and he stopped immediately because he knew I was serious. We also are very courteous when walking in hallways past people's doors and expect the same from everyone else who's walking past our door early morning and late night.

"As a side note, why is it ok to categorize children as spoiled because they stay in a deluxe resort?"

It's not. But I think it's OK to categorize them as spoiled when they're not asked to show basic consideration for others.

All kids are going to make noise and have momentary lapses of bad manners. It's how the parents react ("SSSHHH!!" or nothing at all) that defines whether or not the kids are spoiled.

Point well taken...I agree.

You can sit here all day long and think of excuses for these inconsiderate people (the kids are wound up, people don't know how far their voice travels, etc.)...bottom line...they know they are loud and don't care. Nope...they don't care one bit.

I don't care what time of day it is, stop screaming in the halls and running around like a bunch of wild banchee hoodlums. And...the parents of these brats are completely at fault.

I hate noise coming from somewhere else just as much as the rest of you. But seriously, have you never been a child arriving at a totally wonderful place that you just couldn't control yourself? Like someone said, a little "Shhhh" from the parent goes a long way, but really, some of these kids are just excited to be there. Like the kids in the commerical "I can't sleep" or "I've been waiting to meet you my whole life."

Now the family at the BCV were just downright rude, though. Mom and Dad need a little educating. Maybe Kevin Federline can take in their kids, too.

One good reason to stay in a villa!

You can't totally get away from it in a villa either. We stayed in one last year, and while things were fine for 8 days of our 11 day trip...the last few we got some noisy neighbors who were YELLING at the top of their lungs as they jumped into their villa pool at midnight. Their villa was right next store to ours.

I hope I get next to some early risers :). Not all night loud or real late night loud though. If we get early 'loud' risers, my wife will get woke up by them, and she'll be mad at them instead of me getting her up so early :).

Win-Win for me. She's still up early to get to the parks, and I'm not the one that did it :D

1) I am sorry, but you are at an early morning vacation destination.
2) One should expect early morning noise.
3) Let alone excited and even cranky kids (from late nights).
4) The only option is staying at a convention hotel or stay off-site.

I think that there is a dramatic difference between expecting regular operation noise and tolerating behavior that is unacceptable regardless of time or location.

My DKs (DS 11 and DD 13) have known since an early age that consideration and respect for others is a mutually expected right. Banging on walls, using the hallways as wind sprint lanes, and other examples of careless acts of selfishness are just never acceptable.

2) One should expect early morning noise.

"Early morning noise" and a father encouraging his children to kick at the walls and doors of someone trying to sleep are two completely different things.

We are at the Poly right now. For the last few mornings we have had guests in the hallways extremely early. Not a big deal, at all, obviously - there's no rule about guests not being in the hallways during a certain time! ;) I just wish they would remember that not everyone gets up that early to go the parks.

One morning it was 2 children screaming. It seemed one was yelling to his mom, the other was throwing a tantrum. Yesterday it was a mom yelling to her family about forgetting something.

I know that I'm not the only one in the hotel & I realize that people go to the parks early - especially with young children - however, can't other people remember that not everyone else staying in the resort goes for rope drop!!!

OK - vent over - thanks for hearing me out!!!

Hey! Maybe we were only a couple of rooms apart. I just finished a stay at the Poly and were next to the loudest family ever! Actually, that's probably not fair since I heard the dad most of the time yelling ... his kids were pretty quiet for the most part. This family would get into their room somewhere between 1-2am make lots of noise for about an hour and then wake up around 9am and stay in the room talking very loudly and making lots of noise until 10am. We tried to sleep in on our day off and couldn't even do that :( I had earplugs and a pillow over my head and I could constantly hear the dad yelling Polynesian hotel and other words from the island guide. I guess no one ever told him about using an indoor voice. :confused3

Answer:
1) really? I am not sure about this, So why Disney own plesure island and bars at resorts? in my opinion, WDW is not only for early riser. sounds like biased...

2) One should expect late night noise too? No people should ALWAYS be careful about noise.

3) I understand but if you are parents who doesn't do anything about your noisy kids or late night or early morning, it is so wrong and selfish. WDW resorts are not your personal property.

4) If parents doen't want to control their kids' misbehavior, including making noise, at hotel or any public location, they should not go to a vacation. (note: I am saying "doesnot want to". If you re trying, generally people understand) It does not matter WDW resorts or off-site hotel. Staying convention hotel or off-site does not mean you can be rude.

My 'favourite' noise experience year to date... I was working in my room at BCV around 8am, and there were several kids playing in the hallway for at least 30 minutes, running and screaming. When the game turned to repeatedly knocking on doors and running away, I went out in the hall and suggested that they find somewhere else to play.

The kids went back to their room next door, and I heard their parents yelling at them that they wanted to sleep in and for the kids to go back outside in the hall! Kids explained that the 'mean lady next door' wouldn't let them, so Dad encouraged all three kids to start kicking the walls and the connecting door as loudly as they could, while he cheered them on.

BCV staff were not impressed with the treatment of their resort by Dad and crew, and came up as soon as I telephoned - the person who answered the phone in the call centre could hear the kicking sounds while I was on the call. :sad2:

....OMG! How ru-u-u-u-u-ude!!

And I am sorry that you display the type of attitude that perpetuates excessive noise in public places. Its called being rude and inconsiderate. Actually, I have more of a right to peaceful enjoymnet in my hotel room then you have to making or allowing excessive noise.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could request the wing of a hotel where all the guests understand how to behave and be considerate to others staying there? Then all the people who are loud at all hours could stay in their own section of the hotel. Do you think Disney would ever go for this? One could only dream......

I know I've definitely had my share of rude guests. There were the kids running up and down the halls at the CR. I think these same kids were staying in the room directly above us. They must have been jumping from the bed to the floor all night. Then there was the room next to us at the Poly that seemed to have set an alarm and forgotten about it ( this was after midnight). And then there's always the quiet pools, somehow I think they are named that as a cruel joke. At night very few people seem to remember that it's actually supposed to be quiet! Anyways, that's why I bring a fan to try to make white noise to cover up all those noises. Oh, if only people could remember that others would like to sleep in their rooms!

I hope I never stay at a hotel with them. I can't imagine a parent telling their kids to be rude and noisy. :sad2:

Unfortunately Disney is just like the rest of the world. Where there are other people, there will be annoying people. While those early families may be annoying to you, they may be throwing tantrums because they were woken up by someone being loud late. There will always be "other people."

I was at the Poly up until last Friday 10/5. On Thursday a.m. 10/4, there was a family in the hall talking at about 7 a.m.. I could clearly hear them talking about getting to MK for early EMH, they were wondering where Grandma was, how their dinner was the night before and on and on for more than 10 minutes. The kids were running up and down the hall and yelling "Grandma let's go!" We were trying to sleep in since we were going to MNSSHP that night.

I opened the door and kindly asked them to please keep it down as we were still sleeping and they acted offended and when I closed the door, they disrespected my polite request by being louder than before. We were in 3rd floor Figi by the way.

I think common courtesy no matter where I am, even at the happiest place on earth is a must! Unfortunatley, not all feel the same. But in any case, one rude family did not spoil my day!

I also saw a disturbing situation where a British couple let their child, about 6 or 7 years old go to another ride by herself while they waited in line in front of us at a different ride. I wanted sooooo bad to tell them how wrong that was! But I had to keep it to myself. I was so relieved to see her waiting outside the ride when we followed them out!

....oh, THAT debate has been on the DIS plenty of times....quite 'heated', to say the least.....:scared:
