Some guest were really upset with not getting any housekeeping!

I like this new version of housekeeping. We keep a clean room. Towels are used and hung. All personal effects are either in drawers or locked in luggage. If we have a W&D in the room then I will do a load. We don't generate much trash and what is collected can be dropped in a trash can on our way to the lobby. I see it as WE are the guest and we keep the room neat and tidy. I have traveled with friends and family and recognize that not all people are like me & my family.

That's a shame about RR.. I just watched the Trackers's video of their arrival there and the decor is gorgeous and I was thinking how I'd like to stay there.

However, if the noise travels as you describe, I'd think more than twice. Why aren't new build hotels (not just in Disney) understanding the importance of sound insulation for sleep and privacy? After all, the main reason for booking a room is to have somewhere to sleep in the place you're visiting!

Great to hear you had good experiences at BW and BLT, though.

Hope you had fun on your trip? :earsgirl::earsboy:
Thank you. The trip was wonderful. Never stayed past 8 nights. This was 13 and wasn’t concerned as much about Civid because I was there with adult DD in October and felt insanely safe. I was more concerned with being bored due to so many things closed and sad. And concerned about DH who gets bored easily but he did very well.

Nope. It was wonderful as usual just being there. CMs seemed very appreciative that guests had come. A very welcoming feeling.

Sorry if I’m hijacking the thread.

We stayed 5 nights at BRV last November and never saw housekeeping. We carried our own garbage and recyclables down every other day and never once saw a house keeper or even a cleaning cart. We were in a 2 bedroom and had two little ones with us so there was a bit of a crumb mess around the table and counter area and it stayed there the whole trip. I went looking for a broom or vacuum but for some reason we didn't have either in our rooms. It wasn't a deal breaker for us but for the cash price that Disney gets for these rooms it seemed a bit much. Very curious if this continues after Covid is through as a really huge cost savings for Disney. Our group does not own DVC and we have no plans on buying in.

We were at Pop Century last week for 6 days. We had light housekeeping every other day, which included them picking up the trash and tidying up. Housekeeping did NOT make the bed or change the sheets. I knew this ahead of time and was fine with it. Prior to our arrival, we received MULTIPLE notifications from Disney that regular daily housekeeping would NOT be available. I got emails from Disney about it. And pop-up messages a few times from Disney when I'd check "My Plans" on the Disney World website. Same thing when I'd click on "My Plans" on the MDE app.

I'm sorry that those guests were frustrated. In my opinion, though, Disney did a good job of communicating before hand in order to ensure that I knew how their operations had temporarily changed.

Have to agree with the poster about Bay Lake-stayed there in October, always saw carts and housekeeping around. Garbage was emptied, I thought in these times did a great job-all around the resort itself, constantly saw staff wiping down high touch areas. We then stayed at Royal Pacific-very disappointed-almost non existent, 1 tiny garbage pail for a suite, never emptied the garbage, really was an eye opener in my opinion compared to Disney-

At the GF last week trash was only collected every other day. Towels and toiletries were replaced at the same time but nothing else.

Our next-door neighbors showed their appreciation by placing their trash outside their door in the hallway. In front of our door :rolleyes2. This included dirty diapers — What a treat to walk out to that aroma in the morning. We were glad when they checked out.

Seriously people, won't the resorts get you a diaper genie? We don't have babies anymore but what little trash we have, we just take with us and put in a big trash can as we leave for the day. We have always been like this and have never really cared for housekeeping coming in every day. We used to just leave our DND sign up all the time.

I did my online check-in for our upcoming stay and it did give us the option to completely opt out of housekeeping or to have them come in every couple of days to do trash and towels. I wonder if some people forgot that they clicked to opt out, or there was a mistake, and that is why they did not get service.

I was not upset about making my bed or taking trash bags with us for the 4 nights in Nov. Just the 2 of us and we knew what to expect because of the Covid changes. Will do the same this month and if we need anything we will ask.
Hmmm...I think maybe you quoted the wrong poster? My post was talking about someone stating they didn't receive the expected services taking into account the Covid changes.

BTW- It's awesome you didn't mind taking your trash out/with you for 4 nights and that it was just 2 of you, but they should have been emptying the trash every other day of your stay. I think it's pretty safe to assume many others on vacation don't want to think about or be taking their own trash out each day, as the expectation is that it'll be taken care of by housekeeping every other day since they're paying for a hotel and not a renting a house/condo etc.

I think the issue is people are talking about 2 different things...from what the OP posted it seemed as if the guests were annoyed (rightfully so) that they did not receive ANY housekeeping in their Week-long stay. That's very different, not the norm, not the expectation etc. of what Disney has communicated.

If, like you, they received all those notifications and that's exactly what they got, then obviously they have no reason to be complaining, but if they received those notifications and yet they never received housekeeping; that's an issue.

I don't think this thread was intended to be a debate about what Disney should be doing during/post- Covid etc. I think this thread was pointing out that there must have been a flaw at some point for the people complaining and that what Disney is telling people is not what they got.

Sounds like you would have been an excellent candidate for the times that Disney was offering a gift card for turning down housekeeping. :) I always chose that option too, but I understand for many others they like having housekeeping and it's part of what makes them feel like they're on vacation.

Was this recent? I am wondering about the supposed $400/night at AOA. I am not paying even close to that for our Yacht Club stay in a few days. I don't mind that housekeeping does not come in all the time. We are not animals and can easily take what little garbage out with us. I have also never had an issue with having them bring me anything that I needed when asked. You would think that people would be more reasonable in times like this and not want someone to come into your room unnecessarily.
I mean; aren't they already being reasonable by agreeing to not have the regular/full/every day housekeeping and other watered-down amenities? It's not as if Disney lowered their resort prices to reflect the lack of amenities/services, so I think a guest still paying the full price for less is already being pretty darn understanding.

When we stayed at Poly in September we did not receive service. When I called housekeeping they told me I opted out which I know I didn’t. I spoke with the front desk and they confirmed I did not opt out and apologized. I really only needed clean towels and more coffee supplies. My CR/YC stay in November I always saw the carts but never got service there either. It was 3 nights at each resort so I’m not sure if that didn’t qualify for every other day. I called down for more coffee supplies and towels. We didn’t make much trash. There was only 2 of us and plenty of cans in the room. I did notice way more trash in the hallways and some sat for a while.

That's great! I got the impression (from a couple of other Tracker videos) that the CMs were upbeat and engaged. Easy to see that they're happy things are up and running again.

Onwards and upwards... :mickeyjum

No, if housekeeping gives you a clean room, that is what you are paying for. It is a nice service for them to come in everyday and make your bed for you and take out the trash but their main goal is to make sure the room stays clean in general. It has just been easier to do light cleaning every day then to wait for the person to leave. I don't see why some people make such a big deal about having someone come in a make their bed for them. What kind of garbage are you producing on a daily basis that you need someone to come take it out every day? Just take the bag with you and put it in the trash can outside. Plus, why would you want the extra risk now of having more people in your room touching everything? Because you are too lazy to take 1 trash bag out? That is worth the risk of exposing your family to getting sick? I always found it weird to have some stranger come into the room with all of our stuff in there. Things get accidentally throw out or got caught up in the laundry never to be seen again, they are moving things around, things do get stolen at times. It's not worth it. I doubt that they are washing their hands or changing gloves between rooms. In what we are going through now, it is a good thing that they limit contact with rooms.

Oh yeah. That was me. Sometimes I wonder what exactly is going on in some rooms that they need every day trash, vacuuming, trash removal and towels.🤔

geezus - I like coming back to a made up room, all nice and clean with the bed made. Feels like vacation, one of the reasons I love hotels.

Now, obviously after Covid, I will be sad if the housekeeping as it once was never comes back. You want $400 plus a night? Make my bed.

I did not intend my reply to come across as debating what Disney should be doing during/post-COVID, etc. My intent was to report on what OUR experience was just this past week when we were there.

Anything can happen. Emails from Disney can accidentally get routed into a person's spam folder, never to be read. The pop-up messages on Disney's website and alerts at the top of the "My Plans" screen can easy be skipped and not read. I can see how a guest could arrive expecting regular daily housekeeping and feel frustrated/angry that they're not receiving that.

If those guests didn't get any housekeeping during their entire stay and the guests did NOT opt out, then they should have called Guest Services and/or gone in person to the front desk to raise a concern so it could be addressed. On the other hand, maybe they DID do that and they were just making small talk with other guests in the laundry room. I don't know since I wasn't there to overhear the conversation.

Like someone else pointed out, MANY other hotels have the same policies right now. For example, in July, we spent 2 nights at a hotel in San Diego. That hotel provided NO housekeeping during the stay. They said so when we booked. They repeated it when we checked in at the front desk, and there was a printed sheet of paper in the room that also stated that. And by NO housekeeping, I mean they weren't even going to empty the trash. If you needed the trash emptied, new towels, etc., you had to tell them.

It's definitely an unusual time right now for travel.

For those that do like daily housekeeping, I do think this will be a thing of the past, unless you pay more for it. (in the future, after C-19) It will just be another way Disney will cut their cost.
