I know there are a bunch of you doing the FIRM on this board. I have 4 tapes. One wasn't part of any set, but I bought it at Target. It's about 55 minutes and it looks newer. It's background is a tourquoise color, with about 5 instructors, the lead one being blonde...you do cardio/weights together with the Fanny Lifter. I really like it.

I also just got a set of 3 tapes...Body Sculpt, Ab Scultp and one other "Sculpt" and I'm not sure if it's 1 or 2. Sorry to sound so ignorant, but I just got this stuff. I've got the Fanny Lifter and 2 and 5 pound weights. Do I NEED the sculpting stick, do you think, or is it more for balance..which I do just fine at.

I'm probably intermediate for skill.

How long did it take before you saw results?? Were your also keeping tabs on calories or doing Weight Watchers or Atkins to help, or did exercising really work alone? (I'm not talking pigging out here, but I eat about 1500-1800 calories per day. Do I need to be more careful in the calorie dept?) I'm not losing weight, which is discouraging. Did you lose, or gain...when you started gaining muscle, and then, did the weight eventually come off?

Any advise or help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there,

The first one you mentioned could possibly be Complete Aerobics and Weight Training with Emily Welsh as a lead. Do you use the sculpting stick in that one?

Body Sculpt/Ab Sculpt and Cardio Sculpt are all part of BSS1 (Body Sculpting System1). They do not use the sculpting stick in this series.

Honestly I think you could get away without needing the sculpting stick. Mostly its used for balance and you could use a mop handle or something like that, or not use it at all. I think they even sell weighted bars. You could easily use weights in place of the twigs or the bar. I personally do like my sculpting stick, its 8lbs total and there are a few video's that I feel like its useful. Having said that though, I think you could be ok without it.

Results are different for everyone, and you'll probably won't see results right away in places where the fat was the last to come on. Like belly, thighs, hips and butt. I first noticed a big difference in my upper arm muscles and they still amaze me today. They keep getting stronger and stronger and I love how that feels. Its taken a few months, but I am really noticing the fat melting off my hips and outer thighs. You can't spot reduce those areas, but you can continue to work them so they get tone and when the fat dissapears you are tighter and toner in those areas.

I started WW's in June and plateau'd around 142. Once I started doing the FIRM my weight started moving again. At first I gained due to muscle gain and then at about the 3 week mark I started to loose. I think that you have to watch what you eat because if you eat more than you expend you won't loose.

Hopefully this helps some.

Complete Aerobic and Weight Training sounds right... they do use the stick/twigs for a few things, but I've gotten through the tape without it.

So I've got #1...okay..thanks... ;) I don't need/they don't use the stick, so I don't have to run out and get that?

Thanks so much for the help so far!
