Please take note that I used the word "some" in the title.

I wonder if anyone else has encountered rude CMs at Test Track?

Before I state the negative, I will point out the positive. MOST of the CMs at Test Track have been fantastic and had the typical Disney positive attitude. It is so rare to find a rude Disney employee that, when there is one, it really stands out.

I have been going to WDW since opening and never remember a single incident of less-than-stellar service with a smile before the last two trips.

In January, I met two consecutive rude CMs at Test Track. Since they were working in close contact with each other, I assumed they were bickering among themselves and wrote it off. But, now, having a completely different CM at Test Track get nasty, I have to wonder if there is a problem behind the scenes at that ride.

In January, the first CM rolled her eyes at me and then turned her back, refusing to answer, when I asked her to repeat what she had just told me to do. She had been barking orders rapid fire, pointing and yelling out numbers to everyone. It was mass confusion and I wasn't sure where I was supposed to be.

As I went into the design room right after the  incident, I went to the screen I thought I was supposed to be at. The second rude CM came and asked, "Where are you supposed to be?!?!" And he was really not nice in the way he asked. I answered....I think it was #7 or something...and that is where I was. He pointed to the row behind me and yelled, "THAT'S NUMBER SEVEN! YOU LOOK OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT!"

Just to be clear, the screen I was on also had that number and nobody else was on it. Half that row was empty. Since the girl refused to repeat which lane I was supposed to be in, I chose the one with the least people.

So, this past weekend, we went on Test Track again. We were in the fastpass lane and there was a CM standing there directing everyone to use their room keys on the design pick machines. I turned and asked my son-in-law if we had our room keys. Since my daughter was outside with the baby, I thought our stuff was probably in the bag outside with her.

The CM either thought I was talking to him, or just wanted to be a jerk and butt into our conversation as he very sarcastically yelled over to me, "How am I supposed to know if you have your room key or not? If you're staying at a Disney resort, you have one. Smart people don't leave their rooms without their key. Check your pockets." Then, like the one in January, he gave me eye roll.

I seriously should have yelled back that I wasn't talking to him and he needed to get a grip.

CM's don't tend to get rude with me. I've been told I'm scary looking, but if a CM did ever talk to me like that, I would look a lot more scary very quickly.

People act like that because others let them. I was taught at a young age that the way you deal with a bully is you walk up to him or her and punch them (figuratively. . .usually) right in the mouth. They back down surprisingly quickly.

Don't accept that sort of behavior from anyone, if we all did that, the world would be a lot more civil.

Wow. I cant help but think I'd have fired back something like "And some CM's ought to be smart enough to realize that the customers who are paying your salary couldn't hear your instructions..."

That scenario would NOT have gone over well with me.

This past weekend, my four year old grandson was with us so I didn't want to say anything unpleasant. He wasn't paying attention, but I know if my tone would have changed, he would have noticed. I just wanted him to have a great day so I let it pass.

I am going again later this month and will have a pen and paper handy on Test Track to take names just in case.

After my husband read this he said he'd feel sorry for any CM that spoke to me like that because I would chew them up and spit them out. No one should ever talk that way to anyone.

:thumbsup2 totally agree. I think I would have found someone who was their superior and had a little chat. That's completely unacceptable, I don't care how bad a day they might have been having.

Nah Dont yell back A simple "care to repeat what you just said" does the trick

I'm glad DH was not with us for this exact reason. He has a much harder time ignoring and moving on than I do.

I would recognize all three of them in an instant. I will be prepared if it happens again and will be on the lookout for the three. I was really surprised to have this happen again on the same ride. It caught me off guard.

As far as your lack of response at the time, I totally get it. Sometimes I can be so taken-back by a rude statement that I think I must have misunderstood what was said. I think that this is even more the case when you are trying to insure that everyone in your group is having a good time.

I usually come up with some real zinger responses about 2-3 minutes later.

I likely would have simply responded, "I wasn't asking you the question, but I do have a question for your supervisor if you would kindly call them over..."

Guests have never needed their KTTW cards at the attractions themselves before, and it was not uncommon for one person in a group to be holding them all (like me), and not be the one on the ride.

Things are changing though...

I had no idea you are supposed to use your KTTW cards at Test Track - what do they do for non-resort guests? I thought it would be something like at Sum Of All Thrills, where they give you a card...

Wow, sounds like some very rude employees that shouldn't be interacting with guests if this is their typical attitude. I would have my iPhone ready to snap pictures of those employees on my next visit so I could complain to WDW.

My experience has been that when there's that much unacceptable behavior from staff (whether it's WDW, a store , or a restaurant) the problem is the management. I'm not saying not to talk to a supervisor, but I think it's also necessary to let someone even higher up know what you've experienced.

Oh, I would have gone further as necessary... :)

I also am quite aware of the tactic of friends playing "supervisor" - in my previous life in retail (so many moons ago...) I played a manager for a customer who was giving someone else a hard time. But it was sanctioned - the other person _was_ the manager. :)

Not sticking up for the behavior but imagine that you are working 13 hours straight for a week in the heat with crowds and day after day people asking the same questions, etc. it does get frustrating. No they shouldn't have taken it out on you just giving another viewpoint

Are CM's seriously working 13 hour shifts for a week?

I think cast members are overwhelmed by the poor floorplan of the design area and giving instructions to multi-lingual guests who are also trying to figure out where to go and what to do. It seems like depending on your line: stand-by, fast pass or single-rider ... you have different access to the design room. Great concept but also great failure in terms of understanding the guest mentality. I feel the same way about lunch at Be Our Guest. There is an uncovered line outside, good line design inside until you are dumped into the "order kiosk" area where guests are still trying to figure out how to interact with the kiosks ...

Doesn't matter, if a CM can't handle the heat and guests, they should not be working at WDW.

We'll be there in a month and I can guarantee you that if a CM is rude, my trustee iPhone has a good camera. Pics and names will be given to the ride supervisor and then the the photos will be attached to the email I send to guest relations.

And yes, I would and have spoken to managers about rude staff at dept. stores, etc. My time and money are valuable and I if I'm helping to pay your salary, you'd better be polite.

It was only in the fastpass line that they asked people to use their key card. I was also wondering what non resort guests were supposed to do.

In the regular line, they give you a card on a rubber band to use.

Personally, I don't even like the ride. Both times I was going on it just because other people with me wanted to.

In January, I was upset enough by the second guy that I left the ride. When I doubled back to where I had just come from, there was another girl working in place of the rude one that was there minutes earlier. The nice girl told me to go up the steps and tell that CM that I wanted to exit. The CM working the door was also very sweet and even asked me if I wanted to return.

I don't blame you for not responding to the rudeness.. I can totally see where you may have been taken aback by it.

I would have written down their names and called Corporate to complain. Disney needs to know they have CM's that are down right rude to guests.

Sorry but, there is no excuse for this... none. I used to work in customer service and there is never an ok time to be rude to a paying customer. Smarting off and rolling their eyes... how is this even close to being acceptable??

I get the frustration of working with the public.. it can be taxing at times especially if a guest is rude to the CM first, in that case it is a little more understandable but, it sounds to me like you did nothing to warrant the CM's behavior towards you.. nothing at all. Maybe if they can't handle explaining things and being nice to the guests maybe they should look for another job?

I hope no cast member ever talks to me like that.:furious: It wouldn't end with them talking to me like that and it wouldn't end with me yelling at them. That would be reported before we ever got on the ride. I don't pay to be treated like that and neither does any other person on vacation at any Disney Park. If they can't handle helping people which is there job they shouldn't be interacting with guests.
