Some cabin questions for those who have stayed in them

We had a wonderful time for 2 glorious weeks in a cabin. I have to admit as nice as it was having all that room, leaving behind our little pup did put a damper on things and we have decided on our next trip, the camper is definitely coming and so is Tazz! :cool1:

With this being said, I have to ask a couple questions about the cabins. I am hoping I just really had some bad luck in being assigned this particular cabin and that all of them are not this way. Also, I am not a "nitpicker" and hardly a neat-freak.

First off, there were cobwebs in the ceiling rafters. Big ones, especially the bathroom. All of the door jams were white with dust....visible from across the room. There was a 2 inch wide strip of dirt/mildew/dust along the outside of the bathtub. I thought it might of just been discolored but when I touched it, the junk easily wiped off. 6 of the curtain rods were missing end caps (the little round ball ends). After I called Mousekeeping and they came out to check things out, I guess they said something to our mousekeeper. Somedays, the beds weren't made...the broom or the vacuum were left out in the rooms, wet sponges were left laying on the floor, the ceramic stove top was never cleaned, the used wet towels were left in the hall.........just really bizarre things like this. One day, I thought that maybe she wasn't finished as the mousekeeping envelope was still on the table, but when I checked, the tip was gone. :confused3 Definitely didn't seem to live up to what I would of expected Disney-standard to be. This was the first time we stayed in a cabin and used their services...normally we just bring the camper and do it all ourselves.

Think I just had a mousekeeper who needed a good sprinkling of pixie dust? :rolleyes1

I haven't stayed in a cabin since Christmas 2001, but our mousekeeper did a great job!

We stayed there last December and our cabin was really clean with the beds made everyday, the vacuum put away and no memorable cobwebs!! From our experience it is likely your mousekeeper! (We were there the week before Christmas and our mousekeeper even made towel designs for Christmas (a Christmas tree with red/green "ornaments", etc) :earsboy:

Our cabin was dusty. This was back in 2002. One area that was very bad was the cabinet where the pack n play was stored. Everything else was clean and the daily stuff was done. No grime in the bathroom or anything. Just a lack of a through cleaning of the entire cabin.

Our room at the Polynesian (same trip) was also dusty. Clean, but grimy/old dust in the mirror and anyplace that wasn't easy to wipe off.

I just came back from a cruise (not Disney) and our cabin was dusty as well. All the flat surfaces needed a good cleaning (small shelves in main cabin and bathroom) but the functional parts of the bathroom were spotless.

I'm not a super neat person or anything.

I'd guess your housekeeper was upset with you. I think I would have asked for someone different to take care of my room. I wouldn't want someone like that having access to my stuff! I'd consider writing a letter, as that was very odd behavior.

We were there in October and must have had the same housekeeper. On a few occasions our beds were not made. We had to ask her to vacuum. She left the vacuum out everyday but I don't think she ever used it. We are going back in January and I am asking not to be put in that loop again. We were in loop 2200. One day she even forgot to clean our cabin. Needless to say this was the first time we have ever had a problem. We go at least twice a year and have always had a clean cabin.

Is there anything you can do if this happens? Can you call and complain and get it taken care of when you get back to the room? I ask because the prices for the cabins are high and it would be nice to get the service promised!

DEFINATELY!!! If your cabin has not been cleaned to your satisfaction or not cleaned at all, call immediately to the front desk. If there are no cleaning people available because they have left for the day, they will make sure that the problem is resolved the next day. At the prices you pay for the cabins, you should not have to put up with them not being cleaned. :sad2:
