Hi

We have a 1br suite boooked for October.

Just looking for some info.

Do the 1br suites have the big balconies (if you are on the 5th floor) or are they divided in 1/2?

Are most of the suites Non-smoking?

Is is set up so they divide a 2br suite up into a savannah view room and a 1br suite?

I'd love to know room numbers and if you were happy or not with your room if you have stayed in any type of suite at AKL.

We only requested non-smoking, 5th floor. We figured 5th floor would be more likely to be quiet because there isn't anyone above us.

I'd love any and all info you can provide.

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know if all the 1br suites have 2 queen beds in the bedroom? Do I have to request this if this is what we need?

The one-bedroom suites come in both king-sized bed and two queen-sized bed configurations. I know this for certain because I specifically booked a two queen-sized bed configuration during my last AKL suite stay. I needed two beds in the master bedroom because my parents, who have been married for years & years, sleep in seperate beds (I know, that's way too much information!). We were lucky to get our request, and my parents slept like babies in the master bedroom while my young daughter and myself slept like babies in the parlor room's sofa-bed.

I have some of my AKL suite photos posted. Click here to go to my main on-line photo album. The suite photo albums are at the end of the list.

Suites at the AKL are found on many floors. I had requested a fifth floor one because that was where the two-bedroom suite was that I had stayed in during a prior AKL stay. I did not get that request. You can see the balcony arrangement in my on-line photo album (link given in prior post).

All suites in the WDW resorts are smoking-optional. I have never had a problem with the "smell" in any of those suites, just thought I would mention that.

I do not know if there are any dedicated one-bedroom suites at the AKL. The one-bedroom suite that I had did have a door to another room, so my guess was that it could be turned into a two-bedroom suite. That particular suite was on the third floor of the resort.

All the rooms that we have stayed in at the AKL have been very quiet. I put my sister up in a third-floor savannah view room that was right off the lobby, and it was very quiet.

Every room/suite that we have stayed in at the AKL has been wonderful. We have no complaints. You might be able to see the room numbers of the two suites in my photo albums (sorry that I do not remember what the numbers were).

Janet2k,

As usual, you have been very helpful.

I guess I have to request 2 queen beds in the bedroom because we absolutely need this.

I wish I didn't have so much information because all I do is worry. We didn't make any requests other than non-smoking on all of our other trips and have had a great time. I did not know that all of the suites are smoking-optional. I can only hope for the best.

I don't like to make too many requests and I never fax before we go. This has worked out well for us.

Thanks for all of your information. The balcony you had with your 2br suite looks WONDERFUL.

We are RIGHT NOW in a 2BR NON-SMOKING suite on the 3rd floor. It is on a corner at the very end of the hall. The second bedroom is actually a lock-off (connecting doors) which is configured like an AKL standard guest room with a queen and set of bunk beds. It also has a separate door to the outside. That one has it's own regular sized balcony with a savanah view--we've actually gotten better animal views from that one.

When you walk into the suite through the front door, you can turn left to the second bedroom, there is a powder room in front of you, or you can turn right into the living room. The living room has a dining area with a mini-fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. The LR has a sleeper dofa, armoire with TV, chair, large work desk with another chair, and various end/coffee tables. Off the LR is a set of double doors that lead to the master suite. We have a king bed, comfy uphoslered chair, small upholsered bench, and nightstands, plus an armoire with TV.

There is a dressing table with bench, and a HUGE master bath with shower, tub, double sinks and toilet.

This suite is handicap accessible, alhtough unlike the handicap accesible room I had and hated at the GF, there is a tub and the room is fully functional for everyone.

The balcony off the MBR and LR is one long balcony.

I took photo's and will add them to my web site soon.

ducklite,

I sent you a PM:D

Glad you're having a good time.

I've always heard to stay away from the 3rd floor but it sounds like you have a great room!!

Enjoy your trip-can't wait to see the pictures. If there anything like your cruise pictures, they'll be great.

I forgot to ask, do you have 2queen beds or a King in the master bedroom?

Thanks in advance.

Why stay away from the 3rd floor? Our suite was on the 3rd floor and we loved it. I would actually request the 3rd if I go back. This is the floor you come in to the lobby on and it was nice to not have to wait for the elevator. Also I thought it was the perfect level. Our suite was on the corner and in the morning I would wake up to a giraffe right outside my balcony and we were at about eye level. The balcony was twice as long as a standard room since it had access from both rooms through sliders. Here is a link to room pictures from last summer.

Tikiman,

There was a thread a while back about the 3rd floor being the worst, in terms of noice, at AKL. Maybe these were the rooms right off the lobby where there would obviously be more foot traffic. I have a feeling the suites on the 3rd floor wouldn't have as much of a problem with noise.

I have looked at your pictures and they are wonderful.

The only things we are going to request are non-smoking and possibly 2 queen beds-I'm not quite sure we would all fit if we had a king bed in the master bedroom.

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your stay on the 3rd floor. I always hate going into a reservation with too many requests so I no longer care what floor we end up on.

Have you ever stayed in any suites at the Poly? I couldn't tell from your pictures if you were in a deluxe room or a suite. I'd love to hear about the suites there if you have stayed in them

I never found the AKL to be noisy anywhere and we were there in the summer. We loved the suite. We were originally in a 2 bedroom suite on the top floor with the large round balcony. The balcony was great but the room was too big. We ended up in the one bedroom suite and it had 2 queens. I have not seen a one bedroom suite with a king. The two bedroom suite had a king in one room and two queens in the other.

We were going to switch over to a suite last summer at the Polynesian but they were all full. We did get a tour from our friends there of all the suites and I have photos and info for them all on my web pages. There is a page for the longhouse and a page for each suite. Here is the link:

Thanks for the link to the Polynesian suites. They look nice.

I thought that someone posted that they stayed in a 1br suite with a king a while back.

Thanks again for the information.

There might be a king bed suite. I don't know the AKL suites very well but I am sure someone here knows.

Aloha

Steve
