I would like to pick the brain of all you experienced Disney travelers.

We are a family of 5 (kids ages 16, 11, & 9)

We are interested in booking a trip to disney for 8 days next January (end of month).

Since the prices are only out for 2008 and we won't be going until 2009 I wasn't sure if I should book a room now or wait.

I was thinking of booking one of those family suites at pop century
But I know they book up very early so waiting may not be possible.

Or would it be better to wait and book a room at a higher level hotel?
Since we are 5 people I know our choices are limited if we all want to be in the same room.

Also,
One more question for anyone who knows.
I have earned approximately 550.00 disney dollars from my disney visa card, Am I able to trade in these dollars to pay for our room?

Thanks to all of you for your help.

The family suites are All Star Music, not at Pop (yet). You can book your room now, and they will adjust the rate when they are released for 2009, which should be around August. I am pretty sure you can use your Visa rewards to book, but someone else can tell you for sure.

Yes, you can use your rewards $ to pay for your trip....

However, something to keep in mind.... If you use your Disney Visa you get 6 months interest free... You should book on your Visa (and you cannot opt for split payment) and use your rewards to pay for the dining plan when you get there (if you are opting for it) and for food and anything you charge to the room... You earn more points by booking the trip with your card and you get the six months free... You have to pay for food no matter what, so that would be a better use of your money.

As far as where to stay, I can be of little help here... We have only stayed at deluxe resorts... We love DVC resorts, so we became members.... You should check the prices of Saratoga Springs and Old Key West... You may be able to get a villa at one of those... The villa will fit all of you and you will have a full kitchen and washer/dryer.... So great when you have a bunch of people... A two-bedroom will fit all of you together.... These resorts are really nice!

The family suites do go fast so book early. You can always change it later. I changed resorts/rooms 4 times while planning my upcoming vacation.

One thing to keep in mind is the added bonus of 2 bathrooms.:thumbsup2

Thank you.
I will look into the villas as well as booking the room early even if I end up switching later.
