If you are flying make sure you have a way to get to Disney fuel is hard to find, and also some cab companies are charging twice as much to bring you to Disney. If you can take a shuttle.
Get on property and stay there, dont even think of site seeing for many reasons...
1 there is no gas, and the locals need the gas to get to work, go to the store etc. Disney has gas so if you rent a car you'll be able to fuel up there.
2 There are trees down everywhere and a lot of the roads are still blocked, plus the utilities and emergency vehicles need to get around, and the last thing they need to get delayed due to site seeing folks.
3 A lot of traffic lights are out, and it is dangerous as heck.
4 There are curfues still in place like in Kissimmee from 6pm to 6am.
So remember there is plenty to do on property, so just hang out.
Also Ivan may be here at the same time you are, if it hits remember the following.
1 The airport will close you might be stuck here for a few days, Frances lasted 3 days keep that in mind.
2 Make sure you already have reservations a lot of local take up in the Disney resort, so rooms may be gone.
3 Keep in mind that there will be a lot of locals going to Disney, a lot of cast members lived through two hurricanes, now maybe three, and folks are pretty much frazzled, so be patient.
Florida will survive, but things are a bit touchy and upsidedown for a lot of people, so try to be careful, and be patient.
And if you do come down, have fun. I was stuck for 3 days inside my house with pounding winds and rain. I for one am looking forward to the event.
Alas I dont think Florida recover enough by then to let me have a real good time, I'll be worried about Ivan, fuel, getting my roof fixed, and all my friends down here in a lot worse off than I am.
