I feel like I'm missing pieces of a puzzle and hope you guys can illuminate me. We have a subscription to HBO, just HBO, through Amazon Prime Subscriptions. We access HBO at home via our Roku TVs. It works; I just made sure. My daughter mentioned "us not having HBO anymore" based on trying to watch on her phone, so I tried to download the app on our iPad. No dice on the appstore; only HBO Max. Just to be sure, I downloaded HBO Max and tried to sign on with our HBO Prime subscription credentials but that didn't work. I also looked on my Android phone and there isn't an HBO app on Google Play anymore.
So I poked around on the Amazon site, and I'm supposed to be able to access it through the Amazon Prime app. Nope. In the Prime Video app I can search for HBO, click on that, and it says I can watch with a subscription. I purposely searched for something I know is on HBO, clicked on it, and it says I have to have a subscription to HBO to watch. WHICH I HAVE. THROUGH AMAZON.
I just spent an hour on the phone with Amazon technical help and he ran out of options and directed me to HBO.
I've verified that I'm signed into Amazon Prime, that my HBO subscription is up to date, that the Prime Video app is up to date, restarted my iPad, restarted my internet. Nothing helps.
Does anyone know why Prime Video doesn't recognize my Amazon HBO subscription? I know there's been some to-do regarding HBO and various providers. Is that why? Would it be different if I subscribed to HBO Max? Our only choice for TV is Dish, and we have prepaid Verizon for our cell phones, so I'm not sure if I'm able to get access to HBO Max. I just think it's really limiting to only be able to access HBO from our home TVs, if that's truly the case.
Thanks, guys!
