Do any of you have problems with your husband snoring? This morning was really bad. I had to kick him our of the bed and on to the couch. Have tried the breathe right strips and all that does is open up the nasal passages so he snores more. Has anyone tried the spray and does it work? Need help really badly because I am having dreams of him eating a pillow. Just kidding. I really would smother him. Help I am desperate here.

Breathe Right strips help my DH. His snoring is seasonal caused by allergy. We have a dear friend who used the spray and it helped him. He was one of those who could wake the dead when he snored!

Seperate bedrooms!!! My DH is intolerable. You can hear him through the whole house, and it's a big house. If he goes on a golfing vacation with the guys, they always put him in a room by himself as far away as possible. Apparently his dad was a really bad snorer too. Dh has doesn't just snore, he coughs and chokes and ugh, it drives me insane.

It really puts a strain on the relationship when you can't sleep because the other is snoring so loudly. I've yet to find a solution that works.

It's good to know it's not just me. I am sooo tired because of my DH's snoring. I've tried the strips and the spray and neither one helped much. It's getting to be a real problem. I'm considering putting him into his own house!! LOL!!! Maybe the shed, but don't think he'll go for that.

My h's snoring was really bad. That last year we were together I rarely got any sleep. I didn't have a spare bedroom or I would have moved out. The couch was uncomfortable as well. I think it's one of the big reasons why things went bad. I had no sleep.

I wear ear plugs .... trouble is, although they muffle the sound of the snoring they don't do anything to ease the vibration on the bed! I find a well-aimed elbow to his rib cage eases my homicidal feelings .....

My husband used to snore, until he had a sleep test done. He has sleep apnea and now uses a C-Pap. It keeps a steady flow of are into his nose - no more snoring. Apnea can be dangerous, have it checked.

Sorry..no solutions here just sympathy! The only thing that works for DH & I is to sleep in different rooms! We play musical beds most nights. I usually end up in with DD4 or DH ends up on the couch. I'm trying to clean out the 4th bedroom so we can put a bed in there.

When DH complains about MY snoring, I remind him that the alternative is that I don't breathe anymore... is THAT what he wants? Of course not. He snores pretty loudly, too, but I'm so exhausted when I go to bed, that I fall asleep no matter what. I tell him that the only reason that I keep him up is that he doesn't work hard enough to make himself tired enough... THAT... AND... he goes to bed too early, so he's already gotten a couple of hours of sleep before I get into bed.

I got used to my ex DH snoring so much that when we seperated I couldn't sleep for the longest time because it was too quiet.

Yet another reason for me to extol the virtures of a CPAP machine.

Pretty much all my life I snored. I was tired all the time, would fall asleep at people's houses at the drop of the hat, and couldn't drive more than 15 minutes without thinking I was going to doze off (and almost did, which is pretty scary).

Snoring is a verious serious health matter. Snoring is normally caused by Sleep Apnea - which means the muscles in the back of their throat relax to the point that they actually cut off your airway. The snoring is the flapping of this muscle as air tries to get past it. Not only is snoring annoying, it means you are stopping breathing in your sleep. I won't even get into all the health and safety issues that snoring causes - the list is impressive.

Sleep Apnea can be diagnosed with a simple, painless overnight sleep study. You are hooked up to a machine and they monitor your sleep to see exactly what is wrong. For me, that meant I stopped breathing 64 times AN HOUR. I never was getting REM sleep and as a side effect was keeping my whole family up.

Sleep Apnea is eliminated through surgery (not always effective and very painful) or by the use of a CPAP. Since snoring is the muscles in the back of your throat, normally breath right strips have no effect. A CPAP is a machine about the size of a bread box that supplies a constant airflow through a mask into your nose. It's easy to sleep with and cures the snoring instantly.

Your insurance company normally will cover most if not all of the costs of the study and CPAP machine. I would HIGHLY recommend you get a referral to a sleep clinic and just be tested. After my friends and family heard I had done this, I have had 5 of them be tested and are also now using CPAP machines. Yes, it is heriditary.

And for guys that are afraid to do it (which is a common reason), think of it this way: what would you rather have - a cranky wife that gets no sleep who doesn't want to be in the same room with you, or a restful wife that is thankful that you did this and welcomes you to bed? ;)

Get tested! It's easy!

I had the sleep study done, since DH is a very light sleeper, and has been inhabiting the guest room since Day 1 because of my snoring.

I only had 14 episodes per hour, so I didn't get the CPAP, I got the surgery!

Talk about intense agony....3 weeks of pure pain. But all better now, and not snoring anymore! It was worth it, I'll admit.
