Solution to Smokers Breaking the Rules

Yes it's a joke. And it's my fantasy too! Not just with smokers, though, but with anyone breaking the rules.[/QUOTE]

Sooo, you NEVER drive on the freeway above the posted speed, you NEVER are in a metered parking spot over your time limit?, You NEVER remove the tags from a pillow, when it says you cannot, you NEVER use the fastpass line with an incorrect time, ....:rotfl2:

You NEVER remove the tags from a pillow, when it says you cannot, :

OT, but is that really a rule. How can I be this old and not know. Does that mean, even after you buy it? Isn't that just for the merchant?

Are you really in trouble if you take it off? And why is it just pillows and no other products.

If you answer these questions, I will be forever in your debt, because I have always wondered.

I cant tell you. Being a Government employee, it would give away our secret plan to control all the peepul in the world.. Dang, you made me tell!!

The video is funny. Now, if it wasn't a video on UTube and this really did happen in front of me I wouldn't think it was very funny. I would probably tell the person smoking that the smoke bothers me in this small space and to take it outside please.

If it happened in real life, I would grab some kid's heelys and race away to report it!!

It was made as a spoof and intended to be a make believe fantasy for those who would like to say or do something to smokers who violate non smokers space. Most long time smokers have heard the comments and seen the dirty looks for years and yes, can get quite defensive about it. Unless the smoker is a small meek person, you're probably going to get a few choice comments for saying something, maybe a physical altercation as well. I have seen it many times before and my father who smoked for over 45 years of his life, didn't or wouldn't take criticism too lightly. Smokers know what they're doing is wrong, bad for them, bad for others around them, but the addiction of Nicotine overpowers all of that.

I'm overweight, I eat too much and it's my fault. Period. I wouldn't be too happy if someone made a crack in restaurant about my size or the portions I eat. If it was way over the top and I was in a foul mood already, there would be problems. So I think those of us who are honest with ourselves, know what would most likely happen if you confronted a smoker in that bathroom and told him to stop. That video appeals to the Walter Mitty in all of us, who would love to do something in those types of situations.

I didn't think so many people would be absolutely offended by this video . . . Rosa Parks and all! I could see if people simply didn't find it funny, that would be one thing, but to be offended by it?

To clarify, it is a joke that I found funny because selfish people who belligerently break the rules bother me and I'm not as good as many of the people on this thread. I confess to sometimes having nasty thoughts when it comes to guilty people getting their just reward.

For anyone who breaks a rule - ever??? I truly don't mean to sound insulting (or to hurt feelings) but is there any room for tolerance or flexibility??? I couldn't imagine living in a world where everything was so black and white. Many of the great changes in this country and the world came because of "rule breakers"

No, not for anyoen who breaks the rules ever. I really wasn't proposing that all people who break any rules ever be sprayed with fire estinguishers. It was a generalized comment.

I found the smokers video about as humorous as the fat people at Disney video. Neither are funny.:sad2:

But the difference is an obese person in WDW is doing absolutely nothing wrong and is hurting not hurting random people who happen to be in their presence.

I definitely have broken the rules before. :confused3 I'm missing your point.

The point I made with that post, and you left out the quote that you made, was that you believe in doing that to all rule breakers!

AS i said in my previous post a few pages back, The problem with posting videos like this on u-tube is tht SOME teenagers will try and re-create this, usually with an innocent party not in on the "gag", with very different results. I remember seeing some teens trying the "car surfing" with very bad results, and so forth. Yes the video is funny, but I also see that thinking adults DO recognize it as humor, and dismiss it as such. Sadly, some other people will not, and will see it as a challenge to "do one better!" It is only a matter of time, and there will be similar ones on U-tube, only they will not be staged!:wizard:

So, because people (whether teens or adults) might try to re-create this scene, I'm not supposed to find it funny?

I didn't actually mean that all rule-breakers should be sprayed with fire extinguishers. I thought I cleared that up already.

Heh heh, I thought it was funny. Totally planned, of course, but it was still a good one. :thumbsup2

Kinda like the scene in "Overboard" when the kids blast her with the extinguisher. "Way to hustle, guys!" :lmao:

It was a funny video and joke I presume.

Kind of like the video of the bride that chopped all her hair off on her wedding day.

I remember when I was HS we went to a summer year book staff retreat at a local college. We staying in the dorm rooms. It wasn't very well chaperoned. We found the fire extinguishers. They were the old kind, with just water in them. We blasted them all over, getting everyone wet. It was a full floor water fight. Well not me, but I was in the room! It was really funny back then. :rotfl: Heck, we thought it was a riot! Very bad but really funny!

Not a proud moment. If my kids every ask I will deny it! :rolleyes1

I wasn't offended by the video, just didn't think it was funny. And the way I look at it, a good percentages of the smokers will get their "just reward" by way of health issues and a probable earlier death so they don't need my nasty thoughts on top of it.

How dare you post this, OP!
You're further victimizing the poor, put-upon, victimized smokers! Poor victims!

I did think it was funny, in the context of knowing it is a joke.

That said, I do think smokers get the worst rap. In today's day of political correctness, everyone, and I do mean everyone, gets a pass EXCEPT smokers. Smokers are the lepers of today's society. I find that so very sad, considering so many of these smokers picked up the habit when it was widely accepted and just something people did. Smoking was everywhere - in malls, in offices, in closed cars, in airplanes. Many people started smoking before there were even filters on cigarettes. Then all of the sudden its no longer acceptable and people who have had the acceptable habit for 30+ years are lepers, even though many are smart, beautiful, funny, wonderful people. :( I wish people would show a little more compassion when they put down smokers. Yes, I do think people should follow the rules, but people break rules all the time and don't get the same bad rap as smokers do when they break the rules. And so many new laws are passed that make it almost impossible for smokers to NOT break the rules. I'm sorry, but if you make hotel rooms NON-SMOKING, you are encouraging people who smoke to break the rules.
