Just back from our stay at the Solterra resort. It's a new community and I had a hard time finding info about it when we were researching our trip, so I thought I'd just share some info about our experience (which was very positive) in case others are doing some due diligence before renting.
Location - Great. Literally 19 minutes from our door to Hollywood Studios. We left our house at the same time as our friends left their room at Boardwalk and got to the gates before them. Near Champions Gate with a Chilis, Publix, McDonalds, and Walgreens and also close to Posner Park mall with JC Penny and some other stores (we didn't stop there so not sure what else). ALso near 192 with every chain store/restaurant/hotel imaginable.
House - Gorgeous, huge, brand spanking new. Our particular home had five bedrooms 4.5 baths. Two living rooms, a game room, great outdoor living room, pool with spa. All stainless and granite in the kitchen. Nicer than my house at home, sadly.
Community - This is a gated community, but there is no guard in the guard house. Gates are left open during the day, but you have to enter a code to get in at night. Not sure what good that does since there isn't a gate around the whole neighborhood, just the entrance but whatever... We didn't use the community pool since we loved the private pool at the house, but we did take a look. Nice and big, zero entry, waterslide. The clubhouse had lots of nice seating and an outdoor fireplace (gas). Cabanas were set up around the pool. There are also tennis courts. There was a sign saying there were clubhouse activities Mon, Weds, Fri nights. Not sure what those are since we weren't around to partake.
Since this is a new community, there was LOTS of construction going on and not many other houses rented. Very quiet. This didn't bother us as we weren't interested in getting that "resort" feel that many others seem to like.
If anyone has any questions, I'd be happy to respond, either in this thread or via PM.
