SOLOISTS: How Do You Pass Time in Lines?

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha. . .you used shy and introverted in the same sentence to describe yourself. Somehow that image of you does not quite come across. I MIGHT describe others that way but not you my friend.

:lmao:

Any chance that could have something to do with this...

Okay, so I have tried to go solo on occasion but most of the time someone whom I have previously chatted up will decide they need to make a trip when I do. As far as what do I do when solo in a line? Oh gawd, if you only knew me you would get it. I will talk to anyone. I don't care if you are grumpy, sad, reminiscing and would rather not talk or if I engage an entire group of people in conversation, I will manage to get you to talk to me or at least participate by grunting. Did I mention I am a complete extrovert and there isn't a shy bone in my body?

For example: Last May I decided to go on a trip with a bunch of other May DISsers. I hadn't been on the boards that long and had NEVER met any of them personally. By the end of the first night, all those there knew me VERY well and I knew them. Its pretty normal for me to step into a crowd and just get everyone going. . .then I can step back and watch my handiwork as the conversation just begins to flow from the rest. I have complimented children to start conversations, let others go before me to start conversations, given up my seat to start conversations, etc. Did I mention I like to talk?

Okay, as you can see I have created a rather large and long post for such a simple question which quite obviously proves my point. . .:rotfl2:

There is only a slight probability it has something to do with that. You fit into our group quite nicely I might add. . .just enough of a jokester and plenty of story to fit in. Very nice Brad.

You are all so lucky, I seem to get the grumpies that aren't into talking to me. :(

Or they are so pre-occupied with their own group I am surprised they even know they're in line.

I have just learned to keep to myself and play on my phone. I hardly wait in line more than 15 minutes solo but sometimes I wait longer like when I want to ride in the front row at EE, which is almost every time- you can't go into single rider AND ask for front row.

I also bring my iPod with me which is HEAVEN to drown out annoying, loud whining kids.

Normally don't wait in line but if you ever find yourself standing next to me I'll talk.:) Just saw that you are there the same week as me 9/29-26. Hoping for good weather.

I know this is going to sound weird...
i do this when with my older kids or just with DH....

Since i have been in there shoes........
IF i am in line either in fron or in back of people with kids i would say 10 or younger and if the kids seem bored, cranky or antsy....

I will find things to do with the kids

things i have done over the years with my own kids...

Like 1 potatoe 2 potato with the fist game

Or i spy
or the abc game

or soemtime i even bring stickers etc to give them....

i know weird...

It almost like me giving someoen else a littel piece of magic, or pixi dust if you will....

it makes thekids happy for a whiel and the parent usually seem relieved even if just for a minute...

Or they think i am a weirdo and leave the line....helps alot if they are inf ront of me.....:rotfl2:

Today was my first-ever solo trip of any consequence (was in Epcot for a couple hrs Fri. evening but that didn't really count, imo. heh)

I found myself engaging in some brief conversations, usually park-related about attractions or hours or restaurants. Otherwise, enjoying the theming in some of the queues or on the phone txting or fb'ing. :-)

I was a little worried I wouldn't have so much fun and that would take a big chunk of fun out of having just moved down here (about 30-45min. north of the world) but I had a blast! I'll be spending many a weekend in the parks now! :cool1:

Dude, you sort of fit in to the group, not QUITE as well as Brad did, I might add. But then again, he is a bit extroverted where you, well you are just kinda nerdy. . .but ya know I wuv ya anyway. . .

I thought I fit in just faahne! :-P

But that wasn't solo, technically. Today was totally just me, myself, and I.

I keep trying to go solo, but something in me invites others along who just have a desire to go. . .what can I say. I did have some solo park time in December, but only the days. . .my evenings were busy.

Wait til you live here...you'll get plenty of chances. lol

I really don't do lines, at least not big ones, but if I am stuck on one for some reason, I'll usually end up chatting.

I usually chat with those around me. Once last trip, I was in a seriously long line for TSM and called my boss to chat. Really it was just to rub it in that when I had left Dallas it was 30 degrees and when I arrived to Orlando it was 70 degrees... oh, and to really rub it in that she was at work and I was at Disney. :teeth:

Yes, I still have my job.

But, for the most part, either chat with those around me or just think to myself. I did pull out my iphone a couple of times last trip to do what else? Get on the DIS.

Definitely, people watch. Sometimes it is more fun doing that than riding the attraction!
