Solo Trip

OP thank you for starting this thread! I'm doing my first solo cruise in Aug. on the Fantasy. I'm also not thrilled about the single supplement but what are you going to do. All the cruise lines do it. I did have several options but I chose DCL for exactly the reason ThePhantomsGirl mentioned. I've sailed them before with family & feel very safe doing so again alone (that plus I hear CC calling to me on pretty much a daily basis ;) ). The only thing I'm slightly worried about is dinner because I am quiet & shy by nature. We'll see how that goes. I did join a meet for my cruise.

Question for all you previous solo cruises on the singles lunches. Is it really a singles lunch or a solo traveler lunch? I don't want to show up if it's really meant for people that are single which I am not. Just not traveling with the hubby or kids this time.

Thanks. Great info on this thread! Good luck to you on your decision to cruise solo OP!

I would have to say it's more of a solo lunch to mingle and socialize. As someone previously mentioned these lunches or meet-ups are optional and believe me you'll have plenty of other opportunities to meet fellow passengers and crew.

It's for singles or solo travelers or any other adults. It's basically a hosted table for those who want to dine with other adults for lunch, but in the grid on the Navigator they only block 1/2 hr and can only fit "Singles Lunch" in the label space. When they list it on the detailed list under Adult Activities, they describe it as for singles or solo travelers.

The most important thing to know is that the cruise staff CM who hosts it only gets to stay and eat in the dining room if guests show up for the event. If nobody shows up, the poor CM has to leave and grab food in the crew mess instead.

Thank you both for the additional info. :thumbsup2

Thank you OP and those that responded! I was planning on going with dd on the fantasy 12/13/14 with my parents adjoining staterooms and long story short dd changed schools and that will be semifinals week but we didn't want to change dates bc of increased rates and we are celebrating my moms and mine birthdays! I'm divorced and have never done this on my own even though I'm an avid traveler and Disney fanatic and my parents will be there they want to enjoy couples time. So y'all just answered a lot of my questions! Maybe I will really relax this cruise!!!

I'm scheduled to go to Alaska on the Wonder next week but my husband is (a little) sick and has work issues so he may back out. we've been to Alaska before. So, I wanted to say I appreciate all the good info on this thread! Any other suggestions for me. I just posted on the meetup board. Best to all!
