I go solo at least twice a year, out of 5-6 trips a year. I always like to have a few solo trips as it is such a different (and wonderful) dynamic to when I go with family or friends. Personally, I don't find it weird at all - Disney is a fantastic place for solo travelers. There is so much to do, so many friendly people to chat with, so many bars, restaurants, and facilities designed to accomodate solos (several higher-end restaurants even serve at bars or display kitchen seating). Not to mention complete freedom of schedule and timing! I see so much that I never see when I'm with a group - even people with the same interests as you when together tend to not linger quite as long or take in the tiniest details. As a solo traveler, I can sleep in; I can jump a resort boat to a destination, and back again, for no other point than to ride on the boat; I can sit on a bench and people-watch for a while; I can go down the tiny little paths and look for new things I've never seen; take the time to read windows above Main Street, or poster details in AK; I can take a nighttime walk around a resort that I'm not even staying at, just to see it.
Traveling solo is immensely freeing and enlightening...and good for you too! We all need a little 'me' time every once in a while!
