First solo trip coming up 2nd - 12th December...bit apprehensive but can't wait!!!

I'm a long time lurker on this forum and love it for all the practical and very useful advice :yay:

I've made a number of table service restaurant reservations for my trip, and although I'm happy with my choices, I'm a little worried that some of them might be less comfortable for a single diner. Any thoughts and feedback would be much appreciated. For info, I'm a single female, 36, and I'm generally, fairly comfortable eating alone, and will usually have something with me to read.

Thank you in advance.

Restaurants booked:

Mamma Melrose
Be Our Guest
Liberty Tree Tavern
Tony's Town Square
Restaurant Marrakesh
San Angel Restaurante
Coral Reef
Yak & Yeti
Sanaa

Congratulations! Solo trips are great fun. I was anxious before my first one, but now I am counting down to my 4th solo trip and can't wait!

The only 2 on your list that I've done solo are San Angel Inn and Liberty Tree Tavern Lunch (are you doing lunch at LTT?). Both were comfortable experiences. LTT lunch was one of my favorites - pot roast and ooey gooey toffee cake!

I've done a bunch of TS solo and never felt uncomfortable. Next year, I'm going back to 2 favorites, Via Napoli and Flying Fish, and trying 2 new places, Narcoossee's and Be Our Guest (dinner; I've done BOG lunch).

Have a fantastic time! :)

Thanks Karly05 :wave2: I've been a few times with my, now ex, husband and my step son (15) and we've always had the most amazing time. Now that I'm single again, I don't want to give up Disney, hence the solo trip. (Ex and step son also continuing the tradition, visiting in 2015).

I'm nervous that it will be sad for me, especially as it's the holidays but I LOVE Disney at Christmas

I've eaten at some of these restaurants before, but not LTT, MM, Y&Y, TTS. It's good to hear your good experience at LTT, yes my reservation is a lunchtime one and it's a menu I'm really looking forward to.

I'm so excited :-)

This time of year is awesome, especially if you like Christmas, I understand your apprehension of going during the Holiday season, solo, but just remember the REASON!! :littleangel: I have been solo many times and there are so many places to have a really nice time at, that, I will pick my favorites and share them with you. 1) California Grill (Contemporary Resort) LOVE this place great bar, great food the best place to see the fireworks from MK. 2) 50's Prime Time Cafe Bar, great bar, food and service. 3) The Rose and Crown Pub great bar, food and fireworks viewing. 4) Teppan Edo (Japan) my 2nd favorite in Epcot great food, view and viewing the fireworks. 5) Tambu Lounge (Polynesian) great atmosphere, great bar and you can walk out to the beach and watch the fireworks. I know I have a pattern here with bars and fireworks, the heart wants what the heart wants! LOL anyway, hope this helps but regardless whatever you chose to do just try to enjoy yourself and remember this is the Happiest Place on Earth!!!

Thank you Standleyent1 for your words of encouragement :goodvibes

Those are some great suggestions, things I probably wouldn't have thought to do. Bars and fireworks...works for me :woohoo:

Another solo diner here who usually reads during meals. The reason I've never eaten at San Angel is that in seeing it, it looks like it would be too dark to read. And Restaurant Marrakesh seems questionable for the same reason. Although Sci Fi Dine Inn is dark, there are all those cheesy TV shorts to watch, which is why that's one of my favorite places to dine solo. If you go, let me know how those two are for "read-ability".

I ate alone at Be Our Guest, Yak & Yeti, Via Napoli, and Tokyo Dining. It wasn't a problem. I don't even bring reading material, but I can always tinker around with my phone if I feel lonely. I was too focused on the awesome food and great service I received!
