I have two nights in WDW alone soon and want some good recommendations for two places to have a good comfortable solo sit down meal. i like all food- asian- italian- sushi- etc etc etc so being picky is not an issue. Thanks so excited
:cool1:

Sushi= you could go to Kona or CA Grill (they have a separate sushi bar to sit at).

Italian=Try Via Napoli or Mama Melrose

Wow...lucky you!! I had several days alone at the parks years ago when I was a travel manager and they were promoting the now defunct Disney iNstitute...and I also had hopper passes and was on the meal plan...those were the days!! I enjoyed eating at the Brown Derby, just sitting outside at a nice umbrella table watching the world go by (and getting envious looks from the ladies with cranky kids). I also would think Wolfgang Pucks in DD would be an excellent choice as you could even sit at the bar by the sushi chefs. Wr also love the California Grill.

Have a memorable trip!!!

On my last solo trip in October I ate at the Sci Fi Restaurant in the Studios. I sat in the back seat of a car with a family of four in the first two seats. This was great. The atmosphere is fantastic and I did not feel at all self conscious eating alone as no one knew I was. The other diners were engaged with what was playing on the movie screen and I was in a car with others. I really enjoyed it. The meal was ok. The server was wonderful. I had a sandwich of some sort, sorry, but I do not remember what kind. It was not horrible. I would do this again. I also went in there as a walk up and only had to wait about 15 minutes.

What do othrs think about Jiko or Nacroosees (not sure spelling right)

Jiko is my favorite restaurant on property and I wouldn't miss eating there on every trip! You can also eat at the counter in front of the open air kitchen if you're more comfortable, but I don't do that.

Another good choice would be Sanaa at AKV with African / Indian influences. Great food and service! Interesting decor and view of animals can't be beat!

The only reason I don't eat alone at Narcosees is that it's not one of my favorite restaurants. I prefer Citricos: food is great and service outstanding!

Tokyo Dining at Epcot may be another restaurant that you might enjoy. They do have sushi and views are great if you're near a window.

Enjoy!:goodvibes

I would suggest dining at one or more of the resorts because it may be a quieter atmosphere. I would suggest Flying Fish on the Boardwalk, Jiko at AKL or Bluezoo at the Swan/Dolphin.

I liked Sanaa solo. Great food, and it's fun to watch the animals, although it's only 4-top tables next to the windows, so you're not RIGHT at the window as a solo diner.
The Wave was also good solo. So was Via Napoli.
I tend to go for the quieter places when I'm solo. The only place I've eaten at solo that was awkward was The Plaza, because the tables are right next to each other. But at the same time, the table next to me struck up quite the conversation, so it wasn't all bad. And I would still return, because the food is really good. But I don't eat much, so sandwiches work well for me. It's also pretty inexpensive for a table service.
One warning: solo diners seem to get the shaft in terms of tables. I've been near a door to the kitchen more often than not when solo.

I totally agree about your Plaza assessment!! Have had the same experience. Every time the kitchen door opened, I leaned the other way to keep from being waked...LOL! Sandwiches and ice cream are good, though!

I actually have been seated next to a window at Sanaa when it was not busy. I tend to make ressies there around 1:30 or 2:00 PM for lunch. It's slower and more relaxing!

I probably should have put more spacing between "paragraphs". The Plaza was actually one place where I was not next to a kitchen door. But most restaurants I've been to solo, I've been right next to a door:rolleyes:
