Solo travelers-how do you pass time in the lines?

I'm debating going a solo trip in a couple of weeks. I've never been to the World solo although I have been in Magic Kingdom by myself a couple of times for a few hours. I'm not the most outgoing person (although I do enjoy meeting new people) so I'm wondering how other single travelers pass the time in lines when you're surrounded by families and couples???

Well, as my sister is apt to point out - people talk to me, and I'll pretty much talk to anyone so I generally just start talking. A cute kid, an "interesting" guest, a pair of shoes... the weather - I don't ever find it difficult to pass the time engaging in conversation.

Two days til Mickey! :yay::yay::yay:

Honestly, I turn on my Lines app and enter wait times. That and look at the queue details.

Same here.... I tend to just enjoy the details of the queue and people watch.

Since I have my camera on me, sometimes I'll also take pictures of interesting details or things in the queue which maybe I hadn't noticed before.

yeah, for me, that's half the fun of being there alone. just people watching and interacting with strangers.

I am definitely not the most outgoing person, but when I am at WDW and by myself, I find I am more likely to talk to strangers. Some of my best stories from my solo trip in 2001 were from conversations with people in lines or waiting for parades. Back in 2001, I was even more shy than I am now.

I am going solo again in November and if I find myself in line for a longer queue, I plan to either strike up a conversation, people watch, or find something new in the queue.

texting... chat with peeps around me... eat my celery sticks and carrots... take pictures..

Take pleasure in the people who are being tortured by their miserable kids and knowing I don't have to deal with that! :rotfl:

I always try to strike up a conversation, but people always look at me funny and I never get more than a sentence or more out of them.

I mostly just people watch - it's amazing what people will say and do when they think no one is watching!

I've been known to strike up a conversation or two. Depends on how well the line is moving, or not. If it's fairly slow going, I like looking at the details that have been put in for the atmosphere.

Depending on which camera I have with me get pics. I also look for Hidden Mickeys, I use the app for that. ;)

50 more days till I get to do some more searching.

I think that's one of the best parts of traveling solo... People watching, saying hi to others in line, chatting with cast members, checking out the Disney details, anticipate the ride... I have met some nice folks while waiting in line!!! And more times than not, especially Tower of Terror, I hear the cry, "Any single riders?!?!?!? single riders?!?!?!" And then get to bypass a bunch of folks to get on the ride :) And also another reason to start up a conversation with someone in line!!!

I love listening in on people and then texting about it with my friends lol. Some great memories are made by watching others.

I will start up a conversation with ANYBODY, but there are times when you're surrounded by grumps so for that reason I always keep either my kindle or nintendo ds in my bag to read quickly in line, depending on which size of pack I have. I more often pull out the kindle at dinner if my meal is taking a long time.

I pass my line time "collecting people". I ask them where they are from.
I carry a little guide book I put together with info on sites. Camera, for photo ops of things I want to remember.
Also, helps to have some cheap trader pins in pocket , I sometimes will find kid in line with parents who is shy and I show they the pins and tell them about trading, and let them pick a starter or 2.:hippie:

Kindle app on my iphone is the best thing for me...I'm an introvert and don't feel the need to be something different on vacation. Just be yourself and have a good time! I usually travel with my boyfriend, but he doesn't ride alot of the same rides that I do...so I end up solo in lines a lot!

I chat with folks in line, text my kids at home, check out wait times apps, look at cool stuff in ques.

I have the kindle app on my phone too if I need it but I hardly ever do.
