Solo travelers-how do you pass time in the lines?

I find that solo at the World I'm more likely to speak to others and also be spoken too! Even waiting in line for DME a nice older lady struck up a conversation with me while her family argued in the background :lmao:. I'm a very young female (that sounds a little creepy, doesn't it?) but I spoke with everyone! I would even tell little kids about some of the "secrets" they should watch out for. It was a blast and I'm so excited to go back in a few weeks! :cheer2:

People watching is my favorite, but sometimes I end up talking to others in lines especially if it's extremely long wait.

Usually, I read a book or look at park maps to plot my next move, but I have also met some very interesting people in lines. I'm not the one to start up the conversation, but not such an introvert that I won't participate in one.

My friend knits while she waits in line, and that, too, has led her making some new aquaintances. Apparently, everyone loves a knitter.

I'm actually planning a solo trip to Universal Orlando next spring and torn about bringing a book. I don't want to carry a bag because they're not allowed on some of the rides there, but the idea of not having a book to read in line is appalling! Perhaps I need to find a jacket with big pockets!

Well, as my sister is apt to point out - people talk to me, and I'll pretty much talk to anyone so I generally just start talking. A cute kid, an "interesting" guest, a pair of shoes... the weather - I don't ever find it difficult to pass the time engaging in conversation.

Bingo. I'm not quite so thick-headed that I can't tell when someone doesn't really want to talk; if I get that vibe I'll back off. 99% of the time, I manage some truly interesting conversation. People are always amazed that I can manage 8-10 solo trips a year and still enjoy myself. That right there is a powerful conversational catalyst.

Doing it now... In line waiting for a show here at seaworld :)

Yeah, like most everyone else said... Pass the time on your mobile device... and enjoy watching the people around you (often, they will be more entertaining than the Apps)!
