I am trying to decide how to get to and from the airport in December. I know Mears will be the most cost effective for a single traveler, but never having done Mears I have no real comparison. In the past I've done the towncar thing (I know I'm probably spoiled by it:) ) but I've always been with other people. Is the extra cost worth it for transportation in the towncar or should I just go with the Mears? Also, how is Mears for picking up at the resort to go back to the airport? Thanks for your help.

:jester:

I've used Mears my last 3 trips whether going solo or with someone else. Never had any really long waits (2 out of 3 trips left MCO within 10 min. of getting tickets). There are usually a few stops at different resorts, but for the price, I don't mind it!!!

As far as returning to MCO, just call them 24 hours beforehand and they will pick you up at you resort! :smooth:

I have always used Mears. My DW and I are trying a towncar this time. We are DVCers now. Mears uses vans from the airport and they try to ill them. They put folks with hotels near eacch other. The van can be crowded and if your hotel is lat it can take awhile. I never had a problem with this because I knew what to expect. From the hotel to MCO they usually use a bus and pick you up 2 hours before someetimes a little earlier. They pick up from several hotels also. As long as you know what to expect you should be fine. If you want to get there quickly or a grocery stop you need to use a towncar. Have a great trip.

I use Tiffany Towncar. I want to get right to my resort, and also, I like to know I have a ride waiting for me when I reach my destination. :)

Here is a reason why I prefer a town car......Tiffany for example

The cost is 80 dollars - 5 dollar coupon total is 75 dollors round
trip.

I arrive from mass to mco at 10:00 am...

My driver is waiting and we proceed to get my luggage.

Have a nice talk and he brings me up to date on whatever is
new at disney.

By 1100/1115am, I am now at the resort ready to get checked in.

Guess where my next stop is?

Ok my second stop. The first is to say Hi to the bartender at the allstars.

My second stop is the Magic Kingdom.

By taking the towncar I am able to go directly to the resort and
feel very comfortable getting there. The big thing is that I do not like to miss out on disney time trting to get to my resort in a crowded van. Why get irratable on the first day.

I really feel that the 75 dollors round trip is very much worh it, but
again this is only my opinion. I sure others have their thoughts to.

I've travelled solo twice. Used Mears the first time and didn't really have a problem with them. I knew what to expect, and got what I expected. I had planned on using Mears again the second time, but my flight was changed, so that i was not arriving at MCO until almost 11:00PM. I deceided after working all day, before I travelled, it was worth it to me to not spend the extra time Mears takes to get to your resort. Next time? Not sure I guess I'll have to book the trip and let you know what I decide then.

I had no problem with Mears - until the last time - when I directed to the buses - then it was trouble - we waited over an hour for a bus to OKW (I think it was close to 2hours) - saw All Star bus going by all the time (they were every 15 minutes) - then I finally noticed something - people who were tipping the man got better service - so I gave him a tip - guess what the next bus was to OKW - so tip the man who calls the buses and you shouldn't have a problem.

I have always used Mears and have not had a problem with them. You don't get any frills but for the price you can't beat it.

My personal opinion is to rent a small car--it's worth it to me to have the freedom of being able to drive wherever I want, whenever. There are the towncar/Mears diehards, but a rental car is the only way to go for me. You never know when you may want to actually go off park, say to shop??...
