I am looking at taking an overdue, extended vacation to the World sometime in '06. It would just be me, flying in with my camping gear. I know almost nothing about this resort. Could someone give me the basics, any info about the resort, if you would consider staying here solo, etc.? Any insight would be much appreciated.

I fly in and solo tent camp at least once a year. Although this coming December I'm planning on driving.

If at all possible, use a participating airline with Magical Express. Also fly from your hometown and have someone drop you at the airport and help you with your stuff.

Request the 1500 Loop. It is a partial hookup loop for tents and popups. It is central to everything and and right across the street from the Meadows area.

On most airlines you can have two 50 pound bags for checked luggage, one carry on suitcase and personal item such as a backpack.

I generally take one large duffle bag and a plastic footlocker for my checked luggage. I also take a rolling suitcase and a bookbag as my carryons.

In my carryons I put anything that is small, but heavy such as batteries, my lantern, controllers for my electric blanket, my stake mallet, tent stakes, my air mattress pump, laundry detergent, quarters, etc.

In my checked luggage, I put anything that is big, but lightweight like my tent, rainfly, poles, electric blanket, sheets, pillow, small fan, folding chair, etc.

Make sure your tent is one that you can set up by yourself easily. Also make sure it is big enough that you are comfortable sleeping in it and storing all your stuff also, as you won't have a car to store stuff in. (I'm assuming your not renting a car).

Also, bring a piece of disposable painters plastic to put on the sand under your tent in addition to your regular ground cloth. You then just throw away that plastic at the end of your trip. It keeps the bottom of your tent cleaner.

Once you get set up, you just enjoy your DisneWorld stay just like you are at any other resort. It is a great place. It has transportation to all of the parks. It has the best dinner buffet on property (and the best price).

My recommendation for a quick breakfast on the way to the parks is to take an early boat to the Contemporary to their Food & Fun Center for a bagel, milk, hot chocolate, etc.

That is the only thing that Ft. Wilderness doesn't do well, is a quick lite breakfast. They just have the full buffet.

I hope I've been helpful. For any other questions, just ask!!
