Solo rider on SDMT?

Are single riders allowed on SDMT if you say 1 in your party, or do they put someone else with you to fill the seat?

Single riders are allowed. I've ridden alone 3 or 4 times and haven't had someone sat with me. It does throw off the "rocking" part and cause the car to lean your way.

They split even and odd parties at the FP merge point to help ensure every seat is filled. You'd definitely be put with someone else.

Rode it last week and they sat me (in an odd numbered party) with another, the CMs even went to the trouble of announcing in the line this would happen. Probably depends on how busy it is, but usually it's pretty busy. ;)

My solo rides were in January, March, and May. I would have rather been sat with someone so that the sway would happen like normal.

Question about the seating on the ride. Do the seats only fit two, or could they fit three? My trip in December will be myself, my sister and my niece.

Most likely you will be placed with someone else. I was paired with a man who was built for the NFL and felt the need to loudly narrate the ride for the benefit of his family sitting ahead of us. It is an understatement to say that it was an uncomfortable ride! :rotfl:

I was seated with a man who was afraid of roller coasters. Not a lot of fun.

My husband and I had to do rider swap as DD was only 35 inches at the time. I was seated by a stranger but it wasn't unpleasant. It's divided so it's not like you're thigh to thigh or anything.

Ride it twice a few weeks ago. We were a party of three. I was always seated with someone I didn't know.

It happens but it's rare. I always wondered why we were sent in line 1 or 2. CM told us that they are odd and even lines. Last trip I watched and sure enough they put odd groups in one and even in another. Since the cars fill and leave quickly they have to work fast. I imagine that time a seat leaves empty is because the next odd group is not the right number to fill the car and there is no time to call back farther in the queue so they send an even group and let that seat go.

Good observation, that makes sense and is consistent with my experience last week. Went through once as a party of 3 and were directed to the left line, went through a second time minutes later as a party of 2 and were directed to the right.

All 3 times I went during my solo trip I was put with someone else. Any ride I've gone on either solo or if my family is with me, we are a party of 3, we've been put with someone else so the seat is not empty.
