SOLO NO MORE September PTR - Me, Agent P and a guy named Nick UPDATED 9/3

Hi! Joining in! I have a Cricut too, but with space constraints in my apartment, it sits unused most of the time. As such, I've gotten a bit away from keeping up with carts as they come out and totally missed the Disney Classics! I have to have it for the Alice cuts, so now I'm watching several on eBay and it will be added to my library :)

I'm looking forward to seeing your MNSSHP costumes. I love seeing what people create on their own. I'm making the costumes for myself and DBF for our trip.

:welcome:
I tend to take the Cricut and sit in the middle of the living room floor to work. I definitely don't have enough table space anywhere.

My resort door will be entirely Alice In Wonderland themed simply because there are so many Alice characters on that cartridge.

I'm a terrible person and didn't get as much done this past weekend as I'd like, and now I'm stressed because I leave in two weeks. But I'll get to that later...

I'll show you guys some of the random crafts I did for the trip. Yeah, I'm a nerd.

Mousekeeping envelopes

Some of my window decorations

Two of my door decorations

Door decorations I was working on while sitting on my living room floor

Door decorations after my dog heard something at the door and went barreling through my workspace

And now the moment I'm pretending we're all waiting for: costumes. This is my Figment costume. Everything is hand sewn because I didn't own a sewing machine last year. Obviously the wings go in the back. The tail wraps around my waist and velcros in front. I didn't work off any sort of pattern, so I consider myself awesome.

This is the picture I'm working off of for the Dreamfinder costume

Here is what I have so far. Nothing is sewn down yet, I just laid out the pieces. The vest is cut and hemmed properly but I apparently don't have a picture of that. I'm going to make the lapels again, bigger, and hopefully symmetrical. I have a problem with making this symmetrical. But you get the gist of what I'm going for. I also bought a $6 top hat.

Now for my Rapunzel dress. I bought this off Etsy because I didn't want to put the time into making my own dress, and now I'm stuck with two weeks to make a Flynn Rider costume. Yeah, bit myself there. I apologize that it's just lying there and not presented well, but I was in a hurry.

Back when it was a solo trip, I figured I'd need some sort of bag to hold my stuff, since Rapunzel doesn't have pockets. I made this bag, which took like three weeks to hand sew at work. And now I'm going with a Flynn Rider who has a satchel AND a pouch to hold stuff. Ugh! Anyway, I like my bag. Sorry it's sideways.

Onto Flynn. He's not coming along so quickly. But I will finish it in time, I swear. Here is the satchel. I still need to add a toggle, a button, stitching, and the patch in the corner.

I ordered Halloween costume boots, rather than make boot covers. Without having the shoes in front of me, I wouldn't know what size to make them. I asked Nick to cut off his legs and send them to me for fitting, but he won't. :confused3 He's also slacking on getting me his torso measurements.

So that is where I'm at so far. I really need to buckle down and get working. My Rapunzel dress is so great looking, I can't be seen walking around with a shady Flynn.

Ummm, I totally feel you there. I've been asking DBF to tell me his suit jacket size for weeks. All he had to do was look at the tag while one was hanging in the closet. Didn't happen.

So I took all of his measurements myself when he was over for dinner last night. I'm stalking tux coats on ebay for his costume and need it to at least be in the ballpark as far as size. BOYS. :rotfl:

I love your Figment and Dreamfinder costumes - and that tail is fabulous, and even more impressive sans pattern! (and handsewn, I hate handsewing!)

The Rapunzel dress is lovely and your bag is great - I think you'll be glad to have it even if your Flynn has a satchel of his own. It'll just blend right in with your dress perfectly!

Just came across your PTR today and it's great!

Your plans so far sound wonderful! I definitely understand your love of EPCOT! I adore it and have since I was a kid! There's something very serene about the whole park, I feel-that might be just me, however!

I really like the decorations you've made for your room and the costumes you've sewn are amazing! I can't wait to see the Flynn costume!

The plan now is to carry a stuffed Pascal in my bag. At least then I'll feel the bag is necessary.

I always feel like Epcot is less crowded. I don't know if it's the super wide walkways or if it's really just that less crowded. But it's good place to relax and go slower.

I was working on my super long to do list while at work yesterday. The goal was to change the battery in my watch. I had the tiniest of pocket knives to pry off the back of the watch and it slipped. The tip of the knife stabbed my finger. Ow. It was bleeding a lot but I wasn't that worried. See how tiny the cut was?

Well five hours later, it was still bleeding. I work at a hospital, so it's not a big deal to run up to the ER. Yeah, I apparently nicked a vein, and the tiny cut turned into this:

Two stitches, which don't come out until three days before my trip. Luckily, I tried sewing last night, and while it's awkward, I can work. But really, why does this kind of stuff always happen before vacations?

Oh no! Sorry to hear about the injury! It's always the silliest injuries that turn out to be the worst, aren't they? I hope it heals up quickly!

Holy cow. I leave tomorrow and I am nowhere near ready. The stitches are out (that hurt!) but my finger is still kind of useless. Plus I cut my other index finger on the sewing machine. It bit me. My hands need a vacation.

Dreamfinder still isn't done. I brought him to work today to finish pinning and then I'll sew it really fast at home.

But Flynn is done! 9:20 last night, which is past the bedtime of a person who has to get up at 4:25 every day. I still have to cut the loose threads. I made everything myself except the wider belt.

!!!!! Here's hoping it fits. It's hard making something when you're not very experienced at it, the measurements provided don't seem quite right, and your model is in Boston. Fingers crossed.

This will be my last post before I go because I have a 27 pages to do list. Not quite, but it feels like it. I may be more social on the social media this trip. No promises... I'm on both Twitter and Instagram as Melvose. I'll try not to be boring.
